Eugen Schönebeck , no and 1936 in Dresden [Ref. necessary] , is a German painter.

Eugen Schönebeck studied at the East Berlin School, Master of Arts and Crafts, in 1954. A year later, he moved to Berlin-Ouest, and finished his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts In 1961. At that time, he was a pupil of Hans Jaenisch and Hans Kuhn, and met his fellow student Georg Baselitz at the Academy. In 1961, Baselitz and Schönebeck set up a common exhibition of their works and published the ” 1. Pandemonic manifesto (First Pandemonium Manifesto), in relation to the exhibition. It is also the year when Schönebeck and Baselitz end their cooperation. Later, Schönebeck gave his first personal exhibition to the gallery of the Hilton-Kolonnaden hotel in Berlin, followed by an exhibition at the Katz Benjamin gallery in 1965. After not quite ten years of artistic activity in 1967, Schöneberg abandoned painting and withdraws from public life in the arts.

He made some 80 oil paintings and more than 800 drawings during the few years of his active life as an artist.

His paintings were still presented to the public during exhibitions on the development of German art after 1945 and was as in 1973 in the État Kunsthalle de Baden-Baden [not clear] (State Kunsthalle Baden-Baden (of) , or in 1977 to the Documenta 6 of Cassel, or worldwide as in Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Great Britain or the United States.

He is invited to participate in the Documenta de Cassel where he is ranked sixth [not clear] . In 1992 he received the Fred Thieler Prize, Painting Prize.
