Created in 1966, the French Sophrology Society (SFS) is a French association whose objectives are to promote sophrology, to enrich its practical and theoretical content, and to bring together the different currents claiming sophrology in France. French Society of Sophrology has developed a code of ethics intended for its members.

Sophrology has arrived in France via Switzerland thanks to two major pioneers of sophrology doctors Raymond Abrezol and Armand Dumont, who are the two sponsors of the French Society of Sophrology (SFS).

Four organizations are at the origin of the dissemination and transmission of sophrology in France:

  • the Table , led by Doctor Cherchève;
  • the French Sophrology Society ;
  • the French Society of Midi-Pyrénées, Directed by Doctor Bérranger;
  • the Nice sophrology research group , led by Doctor Calamaro.

Today from these four organizations, only the French Society of Sophrology remains.

The SFS was created in April 1966 on the initiative of dentist surgeons (who first in France were passionate about sophrology), doctors and sophrologists. Its founding president is Doctor Bourdel. Since the date of its creation, the SFS has organized an annual congress each year. In 1969 a national congress was organized with the participation of the four organizations.

Followed one another in the presidency of SFS Les Doctors Jacques Donnars (1969), Roland Cahen (1975), Alain Donnars (1976), Benoît Fouché (2006) and Mesdames Véronique Rousseau (2013) and Claude Chatillon (2015)

Since its creation, SFS has been concerned with developing theoretical points and enriching different concepts related to research in science and human sciences.
