It was born in 2002 in CAP. Its members come from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Freshlyground’s music is a fusion of traditional African music such as kwela and African folk music, blues, jazz and variety, which also incorporates independent rock elements. The main singer of Freshlyground is Zolani Mahola, whose characteristic voice contributes largely to the unique sound of the group.
