The Luzenac station – Guarantou is a French railway station on the Porte-Saint-Simon line in Puigcerda (border), located on the territory of the commune of Garantou, near Luzenac, in the department of Ariège, in the Occitanie region.

It was put into service in 1888 by the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer du Midi and the side canal at the Garonne. It is a railway stop from the National Society of French Railways (SNCF) served, by main lines circulating on the axis Eastern transpyrenean which allows a relationship of Paris in Barcelona (with a change of train at the border) crossing the chain of the Pyrenees and by regional trains of Occitanie.

Established at 587 m Altitude, the Luzenac-Guarantou station, which depends on the Toulouse railway region, is located at the mileage point (PK) 114,998 of the Porte-Saint-Simon line in Puigcerda (border), between the Cabannes stations and of Ax-les-Thermes.

It has two platforms: Quai 1 has a useful length of 140 m For track 1 and quay 2 with a useful length of 130 m For track 2 [ first ] .

In 1885, the General Council of Ariège noted, that in the documents on the line project the station was called Luzenac , while it is located on the territory of the commune of Garantou, it therefore issues the wish that we associate the two names for its name [ 2 ] .

The Luzenac station was put into service on April 22, 1888 by the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer du Midi and from the lateral canal to the Garonne when it opens the Tarascon section in Ax les Thermes [ 3 ] .

In 2014, according to SNCF estimates, the station’s annual attendance was 10,643 travelers [ 4 ] .

Luzenac – Guarantou is served [ 5 ] Daily by the Intercités Grande Line train circulating between the stations of Paris-Austerlitz and Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg. It is also a regional station served by TER Occitanie trains which carry out missions between the stations of Toulouse-Matabiau and Latour-de-Carol-Enveitg.

A parking for vehicles is arranged [ 5 ] .

It is a station in the southwest freight zone (code 611558 FRET SNCF [ 6 ] ) which has an applied terminal installation (ite). The Luzenac Talc factory sends one train per week (in 2017) from this station [ 7 ] .
