George Douglas , pseudonym of George Douglas Fisher, born on in Barton-on-the-Heath, Warwickshire, and deceased the In Scarborough, Northern Yorkshire, is a British author of detective novel. He also signed a few texts Douglas Fisher And George Fisher .

After studying higher at the University of Bristol completed in 1922, he successively teaches in several schools in Leeds until the mid -1950s. He then held a post of researcher and archivist in the Folk Studies of the University Studies from Leeds.

He started his literary career by publishing articles and tales under his name in British newspapers and magazines. In 1948, he published an autobiography entitled Little World . He then gave under the name of Douglas Fisher some detective novels taking place in the small rural (and fictitious) community of Pyford where Jeff Tellford investigates.

Between 1966 and 1980, he adopted the pseudonym of George Douglas under which he published around twenty titles, including the series of police procedure of the criminal squad of the North District of the city (imaginary) of Deniston, which the inspector is part Bill Hallam, Sergeant Jack Spratt and Sergeant Dick Garrett.
