Glion Institute of Higher Education campus

The Institute of Advanced Studies of GLION (officially GLION INSTITUT OF HAIVE ETHILABLE , abridged Time And more commonly called GLION) is an international school of hotel management bringing together campuses in Switzerland and in the United Kingdom. Glion offers training such as bachelors, masters and summer programs. All programs are provided in English and the school also offers reinforced English lessons for students who need them.

In 2021, Glion had three campuses: the main campus of Glion, a second in Bulle, in the Gruyère district in Switzerland, and a third at the University of Roehampton, in London in the United Kingdom [ first ] .

Glion is classified in the top 3 of the best institutions in the world in hotel management and leisure, and second best for reputation with employers, according to the 2021 world ranking of QS universities (QS World University Rankings) [ 2 ] .

The establishment belongs to Eurazeo, a multinational investment company established in Paris, and is part of Summit Education, an international group of hotel and culinary education.

Glion was founded in 1962 by Swiss teachers Walter Hunziker and Frédéric Tissot under the name “International Institute of Glion”. They choose the site of the old Grand Hotel Bellevue, in Glion, in Switzerland [ 3 ] . The first promotion has 15 students from five different countries, according to lessons given in French.

In 1977, Glion changed his name for “Glion International Center” (CIG), then was renamed ” Glion Hotel School ». The second campus, located in Bulle, was created in 1989. In 2002, the school changed its name to become “Glion Institut de Hautes Études” (Glion Institute of Higher Education) and joined Laureate Education, an American company specializing in the sector Education [ 4 ] .

In 2006, Glion was accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education  (in) (Neche) (formerly Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. ) [ 5 ] .

In 2013, Glion opened a new campus in London, located on the site of the University of Roehampton. In 2016, Glion was bought by Eurazeo, a multinational investment company established in Paris. GLION is part of the Hotel Education Education Education group.

Glion Institut de Hautes Études has three campuses [ 6 ] .

Opened in 2013, the Glion London campus is located within the University of Roehampton.
