Jean-Stephaz BRON is a Swiss director and screenwriter, born in Lausanne in 1969, known for her political documentaries.

Jean-Stéphane Bron was born in Lausanne in 1969 [ first ] .

He graduated from the Lausanne Cantonal Art School (ECAL) [ 2 ] .

His documentaries deal with questions of our time: democracy crisis, economic crisis, climbing populism. Using dramaturgical springs close to those of fiction, his films have a particular relationship to genre cinema. Among them, Known to our services (1997) which addresses the scandal of political sheets compiled by the federal police in the 1970s and 80s; But Im Bundeshuus / Swiss genius (2003), one of the major successes of Swiss cinema at the box office [ 3 ] With more than 100,000 admissions, follows the work of a parliamentary committee in charge of a law on genetic engineering; The Blocher experience (2013), portrait of the billionaire and national-populist leader Christoph Blocher, raises a lively controversy. In 2022, he produced the documentary series My rue de l’Ale, which explores the rue du Director, in Lausanne [ 7 ] .

Jean-Stéphane Bron is a founding member of the production company Band apart from films, alongside Ursula Meier, Frédéric Mermoud and Lionel Baier [ 8 ] .

He is a jury in the Cinécivic competition organized by the Geneva Chancellery who rewarded journalist Jérémy Seydoux in 2014 [ 9 ] .

He is a member of the 50/50 collective which aims to promote the equality of women and men and diversity in cinema and audiovisual [ ten ] , [ 11 ] .
