Jeff Nichols is an American director and screenwriter born the In Little Rock, Arkansas (United States). He notably achieved Take Shelter a 2011 one Midnight Special In 2016.
Jeff Nichols comes from a family of the American middle class. His father was the manager of a furniture store.
He studied in the North Carolina School of Arts cinema department. The director had David Gordon Green and the future leader of all his films as comrades: Adam Stone. After his studies, he became production director on the documentary dedicated to Townes Van Zandt ( Be Here To Love Me ) where he learns a lot about the production conditions of a film [ first ] .
He is the screenwriter of all his films.
In He is the president of the jury of 7 It is Rome International Film Festival. He is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival where he presented two films in the official selection ( Mud a 2012 one Loving In 2016) and where he was a member of the jury in 2022 under the chairmanship of Vincent Lindon.
His brother, Ben Nichols, is the singer and guitarist of the Lucero group. He participates in the original bands of his films.
Michael Shannon has shot in all his films.
Among his Nichols influences regularly cites Terrence Malick (one of his favorite films is The wild ride ), John Ford and American photographer Joel Sternfeld [ first ] .
