The University of Kindu was born in 1993 by the ESU\/Cabmin\/0066\/93 decree, June 17, 1993 From the Minister of Higher and University Education, Mr. Ndudindudi, swarming the institutions of higher education, university and scientific research in Zaire with the name: Center Universitaire du Maniema. The effective start of activities took place the January 6, 1994 .
