(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Its architecture is characteristic of the region with its thick stone walls covered with Banco and its partitions [ first ] . It is an archaeological site where some vestiges of a ksar (fortified village) are fragile by the effects of the time and looting of men. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4During the general population and housing census of 2013, the commune of Tamourt en-AJ had more than 20,700 inhabitants but the surrounding locality of the abandoned city had less than a hundred [ 2 ] . Ksar El Barka was founded by the Kountas from Ouadane in 1690 [ 3 ] The founding, Imam Taleb Sidmhamed Ben Bajed, did not belong to the first generations Kountas who came to the Tagant because the tomb of his father Bajed, that of his grandfather, Sidelemin and even that of his great grandfather, Sidi Haiballah, are all at the Tagant. The latter is in Legbour, 24 km west of Tijikja, but the first sedentarization project for the Kounta at Tagant was undoubtedly that of Ksar El Barka. This city was of an appreciable contribution for the historical and cultural heritage of the country, through the diversity and volume of the manuscripts identified and listed by the nationals of this almost forgotten city. Ksar Elbarka occupies a wonderful site, on the north shore of the Labiod wadi, this major tributary of Lake Guebbou, where almost all of the waters of the Tagant converge, in the heart of a rich archaeological site, surrounded by a multitude of Neolithic sites, rock paintings and agricultural land which once made, with the succulent oasis at the gates of Ksar, an essential lever of the economic dynamism of this shopping city that the caravans of the Grand Sahara knew perfectly. Ksar El Barka was above all a cultural influence center where poets, scholars and scholars have bequeathed to us fabulous works. The prestigious mahadras of the Ehel Moulay Eli Ould Moulay Rchid, Ehel Chekh Ould Mmenny, Ehel Taleb Ebbat, Ehel Adoubba, Ehel Elghadhi, Ehel Khayne and many others propagated Wisdoms and Knowledge. But the definitive sanctuarization of Ksar El-Barka, was above all devoted by the visit, of the great Chekh Sidel Moctar El Kutenta, this outstanding and unparalleled scientist figure, illustrious refoundator of the Quadirya route, from Azawad to glorify the Ksar, in 1753. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4The tribal wars and the successive invasions, from 1822, led to the repeated destruction of the city, the last of which took place in 1893. Each destruction was immediately followed by the reconstruction of the ksar by its inhabitants. In February 1905 , the colonial occupation forces under the orders of the general delegate of the colonial administration Xavier Coppolani occupy Ksar El-Barka, build a fortification embryo which will be used as a cereal reservoir to supply the French troops installed in Tijikja. In 1914, the colonial administration accessed an old desire for the tribal chief of the time, Sid Mhammed Ould Sidahmed Ould Ahmed, to rebuild the city of which he experienced the last destruction. Thus, in a momentum of enthusiasm and enthusiasm, the mosque was restored, a hundred rebuilt dwellings (the aerial photos of the vestiges on Google, easily make it possible to distinguish the extent of the original city by compared to the rebuilt space) and several water points created to irrigate the countless palm groves on the banks of the wadi. But this effort, soon compromised by the new requirements, linked to the introduction of new maritime and terrestrial means of communication, and the appearance of new trade routes, did not last long because the caravan route -like caravans – even would soon belong to the past, and are supplanted by the colonial roads and the appearance of the phenomenon of the ship and the automobile. The Ksar region, gradually, was emptied in all directions, of its inhabitants, part of which came to settle in Nbeika, from the end of the 1950s, with the construction of the pass of Moudjéria and the final bypass of Ksar -El-Barka. The fact remains that the historic and heritage contribution of the city remains important, as evidenced by the volume and quality of its manuscripts, the concordant and authenticated accounts of the role of its inhabitants in favor of peace and Defense of the right causes. There are still, today, magnificent vestiges that are still waiting for care and protection. In August 2015 , in a large ceremony organized by the commune, the historic city received the first visit from an independent Mauritanian Minister of Culture, which led to its classification as a national historical heritage, dated first is December 2015 . An important program to protect and safeguard the city, already set up by the government, is currently in the execution. ↑ Jean-Claude Klitcbo, Mauritania today , Editions du Jaguar, 2003 ( 2 It is ed.), p. 179 (ISBN 978-2869503403 ) ↑ General population and housing census (RGPH) of 2000 [first] ↑ Mr. Sidatt, “Introduction to the history of the Plateau du Tagant”, 2009, p. 4 [2] Bibliography [ modifier | Modifier and code ] Whitcomb T.,1975,”New Evidence on the Origins of the Kounta”., “New evidence on the Origins of the Kounta” , Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies, 1937 , p. 103-123; 38; 403-417.
