The land use of the municipality, as it emerges from the European Biophysical Occupation Database of Corine Land Cover (CLC), is marked by the importance of agricultural territories (93.3% in 2018) , however decreasing compared to 1990 (96.1%). The detailed distribution in 2018 is as follows:
Arable land (35.3%), heterogeneous agricultural areas (34.8%), meadows (23.2%), urbanized areas (6.7%) [ 8 ] .

The IGN also provides an online tool to compare the evolution over time of the land use of the municipality (or territories to different scales). Several eras are accessible in the form of aerial cards or photos: the Cassini card ( XVIII It is century), the staff map (1820-1866) and the current period (1950 to today) [ 9 ] .

The name of Landeronde comes from the term “moor” which first designated an unclear wooded area, then an area unfit for culture, which is its current meaning. This term is often used with various determinants, here the shape of this moor: round [ ten ] . During the Revolution, the town bears the name of Goodland [ 11 ] . In Poitevin, the town is called Land round [ ten ] .

As with his neighbor Beaulieu-sous-la-Roche, many objects in polished stone was found in Landeronde, mainly axes, showing that the Peoplemt of the region is old [ twelfth ] . Landeronde is also one of the few places in the Vendée bocage where traces of Roman locations have been found: the subsidy of a villa from the Bâtardière, a balneum with hypocaust at La Rochette. The first written trace of Landeronde dates back to the 12th century through his church, Church of Landa rounded [ 13 ] . This parish was under the control of Talmont Abbey [ 14 ] . In 1568, during the wars of religion, the Church was burnt down by Protestants. On the feudal level, most of the parish falls under the lordship, then principality, of La Roche-sur-Yon, either directly, or through the lordship of Gué de Sainte-Flaive. The small local lords are those of the forges, the noue, the gourderie, the building [ twelfth ] . During the Revolution, the parish priest of Landeronde, Voysin, refused to take an oath to the civil constitution of the clergy; Its mayor, Mercier de la Noue, refuses to constitute a national guard and a list of men capable of armed service [ twelfth ] . On March 1, 1793, Landeronde was at the center of an area that lifts himself up, refusing the recruitment of young men for the army. The repression is immediate and violent. A few days later, the men of Landeronde, under the leadership of Pairaud, join the general insurrection which begins the Vendée war [ twelfth ] . To XIX It is XX It is A centuries, Landeronde was a rural commune with little dynamic demography (just over 1000 inhabitants in 1872, 822 inhabitants in 1975). It was from the late 1970s that the population began to increase due to the construction of suburban subdivisions in the town. Landeronde thus benefits from the proximity of La Roche-sur-Yon and the dynamism of this part of the Vendée. In 1994, during the creation of the community of communes of the Pays-Yonnais (today La Roche-sur-Yon-Agglomeration), Landeronde also decided to integrate this intermunicipal association rather than that of the canton of the Mothe-Achard of which she was a part. The municipality exceeded 2,000 inhabitants in 2006.

Demography [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

Demographic evolution [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

The evolution of the number of inhabitants is known through the population censuses made in the municipality since 1793. From 2006, the legal populations of the municipalities are published annually by INSEE. The census is now based on an annual information collection, successively concerning all the municipal territories during a period of five years. For municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants, a census survey relating to the entire population is carried out every five years, the legal populations of the intermediate years being estimated by interpolation or extrapolation [ 21 ] . For the municipality, the first exhaustive census falling within the framework of the new system was carried out in 2006 [ 22 ] .

In 2020, the town had 2,336 inhabitants [ Note 4 ] , increased by 2.5%compared to 2014 (Vendée: +4.62%, France excluding Mayotte: +1.9%).
