Landeronde is a French commune located in the department of Vendée, in the Pays de la Loire region.

The municipal territory of Landeronde extends over 1 827 hectares. The average altitude of the town is 55 meters, with levels fluctuating between 29 and 72 meters ^{[ first ] , [ 2 ]} .

Landeronde is 12 kilometers from La Roche-sur-Yon and 9 kilometers from the Mothe-Achard.

The land use of the municipality, as it emerges from the European Biophysical Occupation Database of Corine Land Cover (CLC), is marked by the importance of agricultural territories (93.3% in 2018) , however decreasing compared to 1990 (96.1%). The detailed distribution in 2018 is as follows:
Arable land (35.3%), heterogeneous agricultural areas (34.8%), meadows (23.2%), urbanized areas (6.7%) ^{[ 8 ]} .

The name of Landeronde comes from the term “moor” which first designated an unclear wooded area, then an area unfit for culture, which is its current meaning. As with his neighbor Beaulieu-sous-la-Roche, many objects in polished stone was found in Landeronde, mainly axes, showing that the Peoplemt of the region is old ^{[ twelfth ]} . The evolution of the number of inhabitants is known through the population censuses made in the municipality since 1793. From 2006, the legal populations of the municipalities are published annually by INSEE. The census is now based on an annual information collection, successively concerning all the municipal territories during a period of five years. For municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants, a census survey relating to the entire population is carried out every five years, the legal populations of the intermediate years being estimated by interpolation or extrapolation ^{[ 21 ]} . For the municipality, the first exhaustive census falling within the framework of the new system was carried out in 2006 ^{[ 22 ]} .

In 2020, the town had 2,336 inhabitants ^{[ Note 4 ]} , increased by 2.5%compared to 2014 (Vendée: +4.62%, France excluding Mayotte: +1.9%).

In 2018, the rate of people of an age lower than 30 years amounts to 35.3%, above the departmental average (31.6%). Conversely, the rate of age higher than 60 years is 21.5% the same year, while it was 31.0% at the departmental level.

In 2018, the municipality had 1,175 men per 1,160 women, a rate of 50.32% of men, slightly higher than the departmental rate (48.84%).

Vendée painter, born November 8, 1886 in La Roche-sur-Yon and died on February 3, 1950 in Landeronde. André Astoul was a painter of portraits, landscapes and genre scene. The Landeronde municipal hall bears its name, as well as a street in the center of the town, facing the church. There is also a André-Astoul street in La Roche-sur-Yon.

Pierre Nicollon of Abbeies [ modifier | Modifier and code ]

Royalist general of the war of Vendée, born on 17 mars 1763 in Landeronde and deceased the February 5, 1832 in Landeronde. Pierre Nicollon des Abbayes illustrated there at the Battle of Aiguillon, during the scuffle of Landeronde ^{[ 28 ]} , and by preventing the looting of the city of Bourbon-Vendée on July 21, 1815 ^{[ 29 ]} .

The rue de la Mairie bears its name.
