Lindsay Whalen , born In Hutchinson in Minnesota, is an American basketball player. Double finalist of the WNBA championship in 2004 and 2005, she once obtained a nomination in the first five of the League, also named All WNBA First Team , and participate in several All-Star Game Wnba. She also plays in the jersey of the United States team with which she obtained the title of 2010 World Champion.
Beginnings and university career [ modifier | Modifier and code ]
Lindsay Whalen, born in Minnesota in 1982, is the eldest daughter of a family of five children whose parents are Neil and Kathy Whalen [ 3 ] . She performs her high school at Hutchinson High School where she obtained a selection during her four years in the team of the Missota Conference [ 4 ] . She then chose to stay in Minnesota for her university studies: she joined the University of Minnesota where she evolves with the Golden Gophers.
During his first season with Golden Gophers , these finish with an assessment of 8 victories for 20 defeats. Lindsay Whalen ended his first season with an average of 17.0 points [ 5 ] . During the following year, Minnesota received the reinforcement of a young player playing at the Pivot position, Janel McCarville. For the second consecutive year, its average points are greater than 20 points, 20.6 [ 5 ] . She is once again appearing in the first team of the Big Ten Conference . She is named All-American : Kodak All-American First Team , USBWA All-American First Team And AP All-American Second Team [ 6 ] . Minnesota is once again competing in the NCAA final tournament. The SUN of Connecticut franchise, by choosing Lindsay Whalen in fourth position from the WNBA Draft 2004, prevents the Lynx of Minnesota, which had the sixth row in the Draft, from recruiting the local star to integrate their franchise. She made her debut with an American selection of under twenty years old who compete in a qualification tournament in Brazil. The following year, she was part of the American selection which won the title of world champion during the world championship of 21 years and under, or FIBA U21 World Championship [ 4 ] . During this championship, the Americans suffered only one defeat in eight meetings.
