From 1923 to 1948, he worked to earn a living as a receiver of the Pont-Croix (Finistère) recording. In Pont-Croix, he binds to painters who frequent Cap Sizun, like Paul de Lassence, Gale Turnbull and Abel-G. Warshawsky [ 2 ] .

In 1934, he was co -founder of the Quimper artistic union, which federated the intellectual and artistic environment of Quimpérois. Floch maintains a correspondence with Max Jacob, who regularly exhibits at the Brittany painters’ show. Through the Union, he also linked to Jean Moulin (then sub-prefect of Châteaulin and himself engraver), the Italian ceramist Giovanni Léonardi and Doctor Augustin Tuset. It is in the company of the latter that he visits North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula: these trips will inspire several works at Lionel Floch [ 2 ] .

Antimilitarist, anticlerical and antigaullist [ 3 ] , he is a committed painter: “excessive and angry, he is also modest and shy” [ 4 ] .

If he became a little gone to abstract painting, it is essentially a figurative painter who especially represented scenes of life in the country Bigouden and the region of Cap Sizun, frequently representing the landscapes of the Bay of Douarnenez, Audierne bay, Pointe du Raz, etc. … and life scenes such as Breton pardons, port scenes, collection of Goemon, etc.

Among his works:

  • Forgiveness in Bigouden country , around 1934, Quimper Museum of Fine Arts [ 5 ] .
  • Cornwall, its sea, its pardons, its sites , Quimper Museum of Fine Arts [ 6 ] .
  • Gull collection , oil on canvas, sold 2,000 € € At the Quimper Brittany-Atlantic Sales Hotel in 2013 [ 7 ] .
  • Several of his works are represented on a website [ 3 ] .

  • Pont-Croix peasant (Maison du Marquisat, Pont-Croix).
  • CAP Sizun woman (Maison du Marquisat, Pont-Croix).

Lionel Le Floch also practices engraving: he makes etchings sometimes inspired by his paintings. Initiated with the savings size by Augustin Tuset, he produced some wood engraved before entrusting his friend with the interpretation of his wooden or linoleum drawings [ 2 ] .

The common house (house of the marquisate) of Pont-Croix and the Bigouden museum in Pont-l’Abbé represented a retrospective of its work in 2007.
