This page lists the various cheeses in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.

There have many cheeses in this region [When ?] , but the production of most of them has always been very local and their notoriety has long been regional. With the evolution of agriculture professions during the second half of the twentieth century, many local producers have disappeared and their cheeses have been forgotten. If around thirty cheese are notable, there are more than 200 [ first ] .

With the film Welcome to the Ch’tis , on [Who ?] was able to see a renewal of interest in the northern terroirs [ 2 ] , especially for the Maroilles [ first ] . Many local cheeses have seen their production resume. They are no longer produced on the farm but in modern cheese factories that produce, refine and market a number of local cheese products. Thus, the famous Bergues cheese (refined to beer) is no longer produced in Bergues: the last farmers who produced it retired in the late 1960s [Ref. necessary] . But the recipe was preserved and production was resumed in Saint-Omer at the beginning of the twenty-first century.

It is difficult to find a trace of the many cheeses in the northern region. Their distribution remains local for most of them [ first ] . However, it is enough to walk on Monday on the Hazebrouck market and to contemplate the cheese stall which specializes in cheeses in the North.
