I Mineral They are an indie Emo group from the mid -90s, originally from Austin, in Texas. Part of the Midwest Emo scene [first] , are considered one of the most important EMA groups of the 90s, like Sunny Day Real Estate, Texas is the Reason and The Get Up Kids. After the dissolution of the group, his former members focused on other projects, including The Glory Record, Pop Unknown and Zookeeper.

The music of the Mineral is characterized by the alternation of moments of calm with instead thunderous moments, to which the melodic lines overlap, and sometimes atypical, of the sung and ethereal, mainly guitar instrumental passages. Many of their songs adhere to that formula, now a stylistic agreement, which is often associated with what are considered the pioneers of the post-EMO genus in the Indie-Rock: the Sunny Day Real Estate. Despite the obvious similarities, however, it should be noted that the Minerals emerged simultaneously with the Sunny Day Real Estate and added to the then emerging sound “Emo del Midwest” their specific taste, more meditobondo. The subtle balance reached by the Minerals between the dynamics dictated by anxiety and malaise and the most thoughtful, combined with non-trivial texts, has influenced many other indie-rock and EMA groups of the late 90s and 2000s. [2]

The four of Austin set up together in 1994 and immediately afterwards published a first 7 “on Audio Concept, the label managed by Kerry McDonald of the Christie Front Drive. The work was then reprinted by the Caulfield Records and a copy of the disc reached the editorial staff of A musical fanzine of the Colorado. This then sent a 7 “in Fred della Crank! Records that immediately contacted the Mineral. The label printed the only two albums of the group: The Power of Failing ed End Serenading . Shortly after the publication of this album the group melted. [3]

In 2010, an album containing all the songs recorded by the band during their career was released in Japan (except “Sadder Star”, by The First Crush Compilation), entitled “The Complete Collection”.

In 2014 they officially gathered.
