Vučević grew up for 12 years in Belgium [ first ] where his father, Borislav Vučević (in) is a professional basketball player (basketball skt ieper, Royal IV Brussels, Okapi Aalst, RSW Liège Basket), former Yugoslav international. Nikola Vučević played in high school in the United States before joining the USC Trojans university team at the University of Southern California (in NCAA) in 2008. His first university season is mediocre. In the summer of 2009, he participated with the Basketball Montenegro team in the European championship for 20 years and less taking place in Greece. The team finished seventh in the competition and Vučević ends the best rebound in the competition (with 10.8 taken by meeting) and best counterer (1.8 against) [ 3 ] .
During the 2009-2010 season with the Trojans, he was appointed player who progressed the most of the PAC-10 conference he is the best rebounder (9.4) and the second best marker of the team (10.7).
