Child, Roland Romanelli devotes himself to the accordion. In 1961, he won the World Cup accordion in Pavia (Italy).

He arrived in Paris in 1966, where he was spotted by Colette Renard then by Barbara with which a great bond begins which will last twenty years. First a musician by his side (accordionist and keyboardist), he specializes quickly in the musical arrangement, and became his official artistic director. He also co-wrote several songs, such as To Peine (Barbara-Romanelli) , Vienne (Barbara-Romanelli) , or This child (Barbara-Romanelli) . Roland Romanelli does not work exclusively with Barbara, and he collaborated punctually, in the 1970s, with other artists like Serge Lama, Charles Aznavour, Michel Polnareff … He also learned to master the synthesizer he is, with Jean-Michel Jarre, one of the pioneers in France. He also joined with another French pioneer of the Didier Marouani synthesizer for the creation of the Space group whose hits like Magic Fly , Fasten Seat Belt or Just Blue still resonate like classics of the genre.

In the 1980s, although still a number one collaborator in Barbara, Roland Romanelli diversified his activities. He arranges music for Patrick Bruel, Marc Lavoine, Line Renaud, Jean-Jacques Goldman… He approaches Vladimir Cosma, whose film he arranges. He composes some himself (like that of Sandwiches years ). He also turned to the theater and arranges the music of several musical plays and comedies. His numerous works give him less time to devote himself to Barbara with whom relations are distended. In March 1986, following a minor incident (a micro-conflict between Barbara and Gérard Depardieu in which he supported the actor), he was dismissed by the singer. He will never see Barbara again.

He was then closer, in the 1990s, of Jean-Jacques Goldman, joined his musical troop (with keyboards and synthesizers), and arranges his songs and shows, as well as most of the albums of other artists composed and written by Goldman . He thus suits Gang by Johnny Hallyday (which he also accompanies to the synthesizer in this album). Finally, in the 1990s and 2000 he continued his activities as a theater in theater and film music. He co -written with Goldman the soundtrack of Asterix and Obelix against Caesar .

Accompanied by Ann’SO, he signed a show at the end of 2002 in tribute to the singer Barbara, My most beautiful love story … Barbara [ first ] , [ 2 ] . Ann’so defends this show on the European scene [ 3 ] , [ 4 ] . Recorded with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra, an album is extracted from it [ 5 ] , [ 6 ] .

In 2008, he wrote, compose and arrange Barbara twenty years of love With Rébecca Mai at the Théâtre de Paris, then at the Hébertot theater and varieties, as well as in France. In , he published, with Christian Mars, a book on her twenty years of collaboration with the singer Barbara, titled as the show, and finally in 2013, he reworked this show with Rébecca Mai under the title Barbara by Roland Romanelli at the Camenée Theater.
