(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Stingaree is an American film directed by William A. Wellman, released in 1934. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4In 1874 in Australia, the newly installed police inspector Radford was boasting with the rich Hugh Clarkson which he captured the famous outlaw Stingua, who returned to the region. Hilda Bouverie is a poor servant working for the Clarkson. His boss is nice but his wife treats Hilda and Annie, another servant, as less than nothing. Ms. Clarkson is enthusiastic about the news that Sir Julian Kent, a renowned British composer, will be his guest and dreams of performing in front of him to become an opera singer. Despite her song which is not good, Hilda begs to be allowed to sing also but her mistress refuses. Meanwhile, Sir Julian stops in a tavern, where Radford and his colleagues drink. When stingaree enters, the police are wary from abroad, who is searched but no weapon is found. His acolyte Howie, whom we have arms, follows it and they remove Sir Julian. Ignoring this, Ms. Clarkson goes to meet Sir Julian. During her absence, Hilda, who dreams of being herself an opera singer, plays Sir Julian’s new song. When Sttingaree enters the Clarkson residence to perpetrate a future flight, she mistakenly takes it for Sir Julian and sings for him. He is delighted and praises his talent. When the Clarksons come back, they are accompanied by Radford, who ends up recalling Stinguere. Unmasked, he fled, taking Hilda with him. When they reach his hiding place, the bandit is annoyed to see that Howie let Sir Julian escape, thwarting his attempt to make him spend a hearing. Hilda tells her that her parents dreamed of singing and in their death, she inherited the dream. Then stingaree kisses him. For his part, Sir Julian attends a recital at the Clarksons house, with Mrs. Clarkson singing her song in a disastrous way. The bandits in turn arrive and Howie holds the guests under the threat of a weapon while Stingaree accompanies Hilda on the piano. Sir Julian is very impressed by his song. While the guests congratulate her, stingaree and Howie disappear. However, Radford manages to shoot and stop stingaree. When a furious Ms. Clarkson dismisses Hilda, Sir Julian invites her to come to Europe. Hilda refuses, not wanting to abandon stingaree but she then receives a letter from him telling him to continue his dream and that he renounced his freedom for her. She leaves, taking Annie with her. Under the supervision of Sir Julian, she becomes a famous opera singer. Although she cannot forget Sttingaree, she agrees to marry Sir Julian. At night before marriage, however, she tells him that she cannot go to the end. She will abandon her career and return to Australia. He persuades her to perform during a concert in Melbourne, hoping that the contrast with the fabulous operas of Europe will make it change their mind. Meanwhile, Stingaree escapes and retains the diligence of the new Governor General. He borrows the man’s uniform and attends the disguised concert but when it is recognized, the police pursue him. He sneaks into the Hilda lodge. The latter offers to abandon her singer career for him. As the police tried to smash the door, he takes her in his arms and escapes out the window. They go together on his horse.
