The first screening of the film in Palermo, with the presence of the director, arouses lively controversy; The public contested the representation of the Sicilian people with a passive attitude, victim of fear and helpless to the progressive power taken of the mafia organizations.
«I hope that from this a more serene awareness can arise. Some of the spectators reacted not by hesitating to define We kiss our hands A “mafia” film because of the accents of moved Elegy that accompany the sunset of a generation of “Don” now buried. ” |

Criticism [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]
“The mafia probably” thanks “the producers and authors of the genre films. Violence is described to you as a picturesque element, the links with the official forms of power are silent. Schiraldi saw the mafia without the necessary critical detachment. [3] |

“[…] Also We kiss our hands It is a film of coarse consumption, with events and psychological conflicts, with loves and deaths, with pain and sizes. Above all, the director and subjectist Vittorio Schiraldi has kept underlining the figure of the old mafia, in the direction of the “greatness”. Good and wise, linked to the noble traditions of the time that was, Don Angelino Ferrante is covered with the most bad clothes so that he can be nice to the viewer. It seems that in Schiraldi does not pass through the mind that it is a criminal, a exploiter, a head of the underworld. Nothing: does it take the “positive” character? And then here he is there. Of course, the Muliebre beauty is also necessary, and then the young and attractive Agostina Belli intervenes to satisfy the ambitions of the spectator of a good mouth. We are not there, we are not there. Schiraldi director’s hand is somewhat badly bad, and the bad sequence of the discovery of Stefano’s corpse would be enough by his wife to try him; The actors are almost all stopped at the level of sketching. Kennedy is perhaps the only one to provide good test, while Belli shows a very bitter qualities. On the other hand, Marcello Gatti’s photography, and Simonetti’s ironic music, is certainly commendable. ” |
