Enzo Decaro at Giffoni Film Festival in 2012 Enzo Decaro , at the registry office Vincenzo Purcaro Decaro (Portici, 24 March 1958), is an Italian actor, screenwriter and cabaret, exponent of the new Neapolitan comedy (brought to the fore from the theater group The grimace in the second half of the seventies), together with Massimo Troisi and Lello Arena. The trio the grimace In a photo of the seventies Graduated in Literature at the University of Naples, he soon began to make theater and, together with some friends (including Massimo Troisi and Lello Arena) he formed the group Rh-negative , inaugurating a new type of theater that drew to the Neapolitan farce and the cabaret [first] . The consent of the public obtained at the theater, however, did not compensate for the lifestyle of the artist and his companions: the group, during the beginning he often was not even paid and recited almost exclusively for taste and passion. They could not even afford elegant clothes and refined accessories. Everything was therefore carried out in a deliberately coarse way, with rather scarce and essential scenes and customs [2] . In 1977 the group (renamed The Saracens and subsequently The grimace ) He thinned and remained in addition to Decaro, only Troisi and Arena. The trio made his debut at the San Carluccio Theater in Naples, thanks to the sudden flat rate of Leopoldo Mastelloni [first] [3] , then landed at the Roman cabaret The song (thanks to the intervention of the same Decaro who managed to convince the owner of the club, Marcello Casco) [4] and the radio transmission Cordially together [5] . Finally, noticed by Enzo Trapani and Giancarlo Magalli, he made his debut in the television program ” Non -stop ” [3] . The grimace He also landed in ” Luna Park “, The Saturday evening program conducted by Pippo Baudo, and remained active from 1979 until the early eighties, staging a wide range of sketches [6] . After the theatrical show So it is (if you like) [5] , the trio melted definitively because, according to the words of Troisi, of artistic divergences between him and Decaro [7] . The comic group was dissolved, Decaro continued his business both as a director and as a television and theatrical actor. In 1981 he made his debut in the cinema with Before it’s too early , films that saw him play the role of actor, screenwriter, musician and director. In 1998 the great success of the fiction A woman for friend He brought him back to the national limelight.
