Colin McRae: Dirt 2 (abbreviated Dirt 2 ) is a rally video game from the Colin McRae Rally developed and published by Codemasters in 2009 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. On PC it was one of the first games to exploit the Directx 11. It was announced on November 19, 2008 and presents names Illustrious of the world of racing world such as Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, Tanner Foust, Dave Mirra and Mohammed Bin Sulayem with whom you can compete. The game was dedicated to the memory of Colin McRae, a famous rally pilot who disappeared in a terrible accident in 2007, to which the series had been named after the first episode. The game is the following of Colin McRae: DiRT , released in 2007. In 2011 the following was released.

The game uses advanced graphic characteristics compared to its predecessor, new light effects and a far improved graphic engine. As in the Race Driver: Grid and Absolute Primezia in the series, there is the function of Rewind during the races, which allows you to remedy for sensational driving errors simply by returning back in time and pressing a special button at the desired moment, it is still help limited of a few seconds and present in a lesser way to the grain of the level of difficulty chosen. The races present wind through four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa and North America. Multiplayer mode (also LAN) allows you to challenge a maximum of 7 opponents.

The career mode is the heart of the single player game and presents 100 events divided by growing difficulties (debutant, pro and all star) in various disciplines: they range from the classic rally rally to the events Trailblazer, Raid, Land Rush to finish with Rallycross. There are also special methods such as Gate Crasher, Domination and Last Man Standing events. Multiplayer [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

The Dirt2 multiplayer consists of two modes: one classified up to 8 players called Tour Pro and another not classified, namely the Jam Session. By competing on the net, you will acquire online fame which in turn will contribute to your level of online fame: this level identifies the player in the online races showing what degree of experience has compared to the other opponents.

The cars available are 35, all fired and reproduced with a wealth of details and completely damaged, they are divided into seven different classes, each adequate to a specific type of event: Rally Cross, Rally, Buggy Class1, Stock Baja, Trailblazer, Raid T1 e Trophy Truck.
It is possible to modify them both with liveries and various accessories that unlock themselves by gradually progressing in the career and from the point of view of performance. Before each race it is also possible to intervene on the development of the vehicle by acting on six parameters: lift, suspensions, ground height, rotten ratio, differential and brake balance.

Compared to versions for fixed consoles, the distributed edition for the PSP has been made with less unlockable material and with a less realistic and more arcade driving setting. The criticism judged it regarding precisely this archaeization of the driving style, for the artificial intelligence of the opposing cars and for the technical realization and of the sound assessed below expectations.
