Blood Blockade Battlefront ( Blood Front KEKKAI SENSEN ? ) is a manga shōnen written and designed by Yasuhiro Nightow, initially served on Jump Square of Shūeisha and then transferred to the Jump SQ.19 Starting in 2010. An anime adaptation, produced by Bones, was broadcast in Japan between April 4 and October 3, 2015. In Italy the manga is published by the J-pop, while the anime was purchased by Dynit. A second season anime was broadcast in 2017.
The story is set in the city of Hellsalem’s Lot, which stands on the ruins of New York, destroyed in a single night by the collision of our world and that of Beyond, populated by monstrous beings. The city has now become the house of humans but also of supernatural creatures, such as vampires and werewolves, in a sort of peaceful coexistence: to fight crimes to maintain peace and balance between the two communities is the secret society “Libra” , composed of superuomini and monsters and headed by Klaus V. Reinherz.

Libra is a secret society that maintains balance in the city of Hellsalem’s Lot. Although his name is on everyone’s mouth, his network of agents and the information about it is very secret, so much so that there are those who pay billions to obtain them (especially mafia or demons). Born initially as vampire hunters, Libra now has the task of making sure that what is located in Hellsalem’s Lot does not exit the city and clubs for the world. Most of its practical members “The art of blood manipulation”, which allows them to modify their blood through artifacts or manually, however these skills are different as each has learned this art from a different school (zapp, For example, it can burn it, while K.K. transforms it into electric bullets). The remaining members either are monsters or demons or have out of the ordinary skills (Leonardo, for example, has divine eyes, while Chain is a werewolf).

- Head of the libra. He is a tall, distinct man, with a malocclusion that makes him protrude the lower canines outside the mouth. An unparalleled gentleman with an iron will, as well as extremely intelligent, is defined by his men. He fights with a chirphix -shaped tirapagni, from which he can bring out his blood with which he creates crosses to fight or seal his enemies. Although it is incredibly strong, it is considered an amateur, as it never doses its strength and often uses an elementary fighting style.

- He is the protagonist of the series. He is a humble and young photographer, who arrived in Hellsalem’s Lot to help his sick sister. On their arrival, however, a mysterious entity appears before him, proposing to the two brothers to give one of them the “artificial eyes of God”, in exchange for the sight of the other. The sister decides to sacrifice himself and since then Leo feels responsible, deciding to stay in the city to look for a solution that ridues her sight. He becomes part of the Libra by pure chance, becoming one of the most important elements in a short time, thanks also to his new eyes that give him different eye skills, such as taking control of the vision of others, the ability to discover illusions and capture the auree of individuals.

- Member of the Libra. He is an unparalleled womanol and gambler, so much so that he often ended up in trouble for his game debts. His power consists in manipulating his blood through a lighter -shaped object with which he also manipulates fire or creates swords to fight. He is Leonado’s partner, of which he takes care (in his own way) and who often prevaric as he cannot fight. He often tries to defeat his boss, Klaus, but in the end it is he who is defeated.

- Member of the Libra. Despite the appearance, she is actually a werewolf, with the incredible ability to become invisible. He mainly carries out reconnaissance assignments on behalf of Libra. He is sadistic of nature, so much so that he hurts others (especially in Zapp, with whom he is in bad relationships) or in any case show indifference to those in danger. It must be said, however, that it is not lacking in humanity, as it once recovers the money removed from Leo and destined for his sister by a thug to whom he makes a bad end (he also steals his money and therefore to pay the bill with A demon sees himself stealing his body) or tries to help a friend persecuted by Zapp.

- Member of the Libra. He is the deputy of Klaus and in his absence he commands the company. He is a dark man with many contacts in different sectors. It has the power to manipulate the blood with crosses that has on the soles of the shoes to turn it on ice, with which it freezes objects and enemies to simple contact. He also has a special private task force that acts under his command, whose tasks would go against the rules of Libra and Klaus and of which only he is aware.

- Member of the Libra. She is a lively and confident woman, as well as very devoted to the family. He is friendly and loving with everyone, except with Steven, who considers evil and cruel (nevertheless he often finds himself collaborating during the missions). He always sports a bandage on the right eye. He fights using firearms with which he shoots very powerful electric blood bullets with which the enemies electrocute.

- Occasional members of Libra. They are two men in one body. D’Adro Brody was a very ruthless and bloody demono boyfriend with Aligura, the Queen of Monomania, although as an aspect she left a lot to be desired, while Dog hummer was a humble and practically physically perfect man. Aligura thus decided to merge them together, replacing Hummer’s blood with Brody, previously shredded and liquefied, in order to create the perfect boyfriend. Since then Brody can escape from Hummer’s body forming the extensions, a kind of armor that covers it and protects it, as well as giving it an incredible force. Often they are confined to a maximum security prison due to the precedents of Brody, but are freed from Libra to help them in terrible situations. The characters are clearly inspired by Marvel’s Carnage and Venom.

- Member of the Libra. It is a Triton that was trained by the same teacher of Zapp and who joined the Libra after being abandoned by it. Contrary to Zapp, more impulsive, he is more patient and methodical. He doesn’t like to eat fish because of his nature. He can use his blood to create three fighters with which he fights, as well as manipulating the wind. The character is inspired by Abe Sapien of the Hellboy series.

- Double from: Banjō Ginga
- Member of Klaus’s Libra and butler. His face is covered with bandages, making him appear similar to a mummy. He is known for being a famous fighter, and has regenerative powers. He drives a personalized vehicle with many weapons and is very ferocious despite his elegant behavior. It manages most of the Libra’s intelligence work.

- Former master of Klaus and legendary vampire hunter. He was cursed by the latter, who gave him an incredible fortune that prevents him from getting hurt in any way, so much so as to nickname him “Abrams the lucky”. However, his luck to prevent him from getting hurt does it to those close to him, for this reason his colleagues also tend to stay away from him for fear of dying.

The manga, initially published in 2008 as one-shot on the Jump Square of Shūeisha, started the serialization in the same magazine starting from the February 2009 issue, and then be transferred to the Jump SQ.19 In 2010 [first] . The Anime television series, produced by Bones and directed by Rie Matsumoto, started aired on April 4, 2015 [14] [15] and ended late on 3 October due to some problems with the schedule [16] . The opening and closing acronyms are respectively Hello, world! dei Bump of Chicken [15] It is Sugar Song to Bitter Step. of the Unison Square Garden [17] . In Italy the rights were purchased by Dynit, which broadcast the streaming episodes on VVVVID, subtitled in Italian, starting from April 7, 2015 [18] . In North America, however, the series was granted to the Funimation [19] , while in Australia and New Zealand the episodes were made available by Madman Entertainment on AnimeLab [20] . An OAV episode was published attached to an official guide of the series on June 3, 2016 [21] . A second season anime, entitled KEKKAI SENSEN & BEYOND ( Blood Front & Beyond ? ) , was announced on 2 December 2016 on Jump Square for 2017 [22] . The latter was then broadcast from 7 October to 23 December 2017.
