Carlos María Javier de la Torre (Quito, 15 November 1873 – Quito, 31 July 1968) was an Ecuadorian Catholic Cardinal and Archbishop.

He was born in Quito on November 15, 1873.

Pope Pius XII raised him to the rank of cardinal in the Contestory of 12 January 1953, making him the first native native of the Ecuador.

He participated in the Conclave of 1958, which elected Pope John XXIII, but not to that of 1963, which elected Pope Paul VI, for health reasons.

He died on July 31, 1968 at the age of 94 and was buried inside the cathedral of Quito.
