DeSoto S-Series – Wikipedia

The S-Series It is a series of cars produced by Desoto from 1931 to 1942 and from 1946 to 1957.

The first car of the series, Sa, succeeded CK-Series in 1931. It was presented to the public at the New York Automobile Motor Show in 1931. The model had mounted a six-cylinder in-line engine and side valves of 3,364 Cm³ of displacement that provided 72 hp of power at 3,400 rpm per minute. The step was, as for the ancestor model, 2,769 mm.

SC-Series (1932) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

In January 1932 the SC-Series was introduced. Compared to the previous model, the new car was significantly revised: specifically, the grille was rounded and the engine was enlarged. The engine, in fact, had a displacement of 3,569 cm³ and now developed 75 HP. The pass also grew and touched 2,854 mm.

SD-Series (1933) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

In December 1932 the SD series was introduced. The new model, compared to the previous one, was the subject of slight stylistic reviews. The engine possessed the same displacement as that of the SC-Series, even if it was enhanced to touch the 100 HP. The production ended in December 1933.

The new S-3 series was instead launched in September 1936 and replaced both Airflow and Airstreame. The S-3 was offered on a frame that was available with two different pace sizes: 2,946 millimeters and 3,378 mm. The S-3 mounted a six-cylinder 3,738 cm³ engine engines and paid a power of 93 HP.

The S-5 was introduced in 1938 and was basically an S-3 magazine.

S-6-Series (1939) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

The S-6, which was launched in 1939, had integrated lights in the front fenders and owned a wider grille that was characterized by the presence of horizontal chrome bars.

S-7-Series (1940) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

The S-7 was instead launched in 1940 and was equipped with the heating and ventilation system. Among the options, the “Simplimatic” semi -automatic gearbox was available

S-8-Series (1941) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

The S-8 instead had a longer and wider bodywork that was available in different two steps, 3,086 mm and 3,543 mm. The grille owned vertical bars instead of horizontal. The rear window was significantly bigger.

S-10-Series (1942) [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]

In 1942 the series was completely revised. The grille, which was characterized by vertical chromed bars, had become more flat and was now extended throughout the width of the vehicle. The front headlights – when not in use – disappeared behind a sheet metal, and this gave the vehicle an almost futuristic appearance. The engine had a displacement of 3,879 cm³ and paid 115 HP. In January 1942, production was interrupted due to the Second World War.
