SEPTE OF ARTISTS – His grandmother is the Venezuelan artist of German origin Gertrud Goldschmidt (Gego) and his grandfather Gerd Leufert, painter and graphic – and son of mathematicians, creates in motion sculptures that calls “electrocinetics”. He began to work on his first sculpture in 2002. The idea came to him by visiting an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas, in front of the Virtual Cube by Jes\u00fas Rafael Soto: by observing him he begins to reflect on the computer and mechanical solution that could make him move in space [first] . He works on his first experimental work starting from his previous research in computer planning. Two years after, Electrochinetic mesh i It is finished. He starts working on other sculptures and immediately participates in collective exhibitions in Venezuela. His first personal is held at Cultural Production Channel of Caracas, in 2006. In 2008 he moved to Paris, where he met Carlos Cruz-Diez, one of the most important Venezuelan living artists and residing in Paris, who encourages him and urges him to continue working without distractions. Just the research around the color of Cruz-Diez inspires him and begins to insert colored plexiglas elements in his sculptures [2] . His sculptures are now present in the collections of important international institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts (Houston), El Museo del Barrio (New York), the Museo De Arte Latino American (Buenos Aires) and the Nacional de Bellas Artes Museum (Buenos Aires) and are exhibited in the whole world. His works are presented at the Denise Ren\u00e9 Gallery in Paris and at the Cecilia de Torres Ltd. Gallery in New York.        (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Its “electrocinetic” sculptures are composed of simple geometric figures and numerous elements: triangles, squares, rims, lines that float in the space suspended with nylon threads and slowly draw movements similar to a dance, thanks to a computer programming that translates moving mathematical formulas. The joint movement of the elements composes the choreography, the form in constant change of the work: the sculpture turns little by little, crosses the moments of chaos to then return to flow harmoniously. The lighting often constitutes an additional element, the projected shadow creates the effects of splitting the work. The “texture” also is an integral part of it, the artist uses the most diverse materials: plexiglas, aluminum, stainless steel, copper and also plays with color.
