Elisabeth Pähtz (Erfurt, January 8, 1985) is a German chess player, great master.

International Master since 2004, he obtained the third rule of great master in November 2021. [first] However, the ratification of the title by the Fide Commission took place only in December 2022, for a 2016 rule that had been considered doubtful by the examiners. [2] It is the forties woman who has reached the highest title recognized by the Fide and the first of German nationality. [3]

He began to play chess very early under the guidance of his father, the great master Thomas Pähtz. At the age of 9 he won the German women’s championship in the Under 11 band.
In the same year he participated in the matchparov match – Rest of the world as an official analyst of the World Team together with the other then young promises Étienne Bacrot, Florin Felecan and Irina Krush.

In 2002 he won the women’s under-18 World Championship in Heraklion and in 2005 he won the women’s junior world championship in Istanbul (under-20).

In 1999 he won the German women’s championship at the age of only 14.

In 2004 he obtained the title of international master.

In 2006 he played a match against the American Irina Krush in Dortmund being defeated for 2½ – 3½. [5]

In 2008 he participated in NaL’čik in the final stages of the women’s world championship. After passing Ilaha Kadinova 4-3 in the 1st round, in the 2nd round he lost ½-11 against Anna Ushenina.

In April 2018 he won the European women’s European championship. [6]

In September 2018 in Lidingö, Sweden, the Rapid women’s quadrangle won Pia Cramling’s invitational tournament , dedicated to the Swedish player of the same name with 4th out of 6. [7]

In November 2018 he participated in the women’s world championship, in which he was eliminated in the first round by the Iranian Gereniana Alinasab for 1½ – ½.

In April 2019, 3rd came for technical playoff in the women’s individual European championship. [8]

In November 2021 he arrived in second place at the Fide Women’s Grand Swiss in Riga with 7.5 points out of 11, at a point and a half from the winner she Tingjie. The performance makes her obtain the third and definitive rule of great master. [9]

In May 2017 he won the Italian team championship in the team (CISF) with the team of CAISSA ITALIA POTOLE LEGNELLI BOLOGNA , plays in the first checkerboard and unbeaten, gets 3½ points out of 5 games played. [14]

In August 2018 he participated in the Spanish team championship with the CAC BENIAJAN DUOCHESS . The team comes second, while with 6 points out of 7 Pähtz is the best player of the event. [15]

He is also a strong chess player960. In 2006 he played a match against Alexandra Kosteniuk for the women’s world championship of this variety of chess, losing it 2½ – 5½.

In September 2015 he married the Italian Luca Shytaj, at the time international master. [16] The couple subsequently separated. [17]
