Era It is a musical project by the French musician Eric Lévi, who began in the years 1995 – 1997. In most of his production he took inspiration from the medieval Gregorian chant, both for the style and for the texts, written, the latter, in one Imaginary language similar to Latin. The mystical and plane style can be described as New Age and is partly similar to that of artists such as Enya, Enigma and Deep Forest; However, it also includes significant guitar solos generally rock, and is very influenced by Gothic Metal.

The project Era He began to take shape in 1992 from Eric Lévi’s desire, already founder in 1977 of the Glam Rock Shakin ‘Street group, to devote himself to a solo career. After writing soundtracks for some films (including Visitors , from 1993), also obtaining a good success, however, between 1995 and 1997 that the idea really takes shape. The first album, which bears the name of the project, comes out in 1996, and achieves great success for the public and critics, selling 2 million records only in France in the one year’s spinner. The album, from the aerial atmospheres obtained with the use of synthesizers, takes inspiration from artists such as Enya, from Gregorian chant, and also includes some tracks already present in the soundtrack of the film Visitors .

The sounds of the songs of the era are ethereal. Their songs, mainly suitable as soundtrack, evoke magical atmospheres.

The second album, Era 2 , is published in May 2000 and also achieves great success, obtaining platinum disc in France, and selling more than 3 million copies in the world. On December 15, the first collection of their most well -known songs, The Legend .

Stylistically, Levi remains faithful to himself, as well as in his third album The Mass , published on February 24, 2003. The disc achieves even greater success of the previous ones, entering in a short time in the top of the sales charts in Europe and Mexico, and thus guaranteeing the gold and platinum records.

The first single extract The Mass , is inspired by the Carmina burana by Carl Orff, and in particular to the famous song Or luck , reaffirming medieval inspiration. The second single Looking for Something Instead, he detaches himself from the previous ones, with a video no longer staged in medieval settings but in the very modern New York, presenting in it the loss of unfinished research, from which he takes the song. The song is then subsequently presented in a second version, remixed by the DJ Darren Tate. The third and last single Don’t Go Away , he was released in February 2004 to sell 400 000 copies in France in a short time.

On February 10, 2005 a collection was released with the greatest successes, The Very Best of Era ; composed of a CD with 16 tracks, one of which is one unpublished ( I Believe ) and from a DVD with the collection of all video products for Era. The success is such as to achieve the recognition of platinum disc in France.

In 2007 a third collection was released, Prestige.

On March 24, 2008, five years after the latest unpublished album, he comes out Reborn , fourth album of the project. It is an album with strong Middle Eastern sounds with a classic gem: track number 4, Sinfoni deo , is inspired by the Ave Maria of Caccini and recalls the classic sound sounds in the context.

On November 2, 2009 it comes out Classics , a collection of classic songs revisited with the sounds and texts-like typical of the project was. Following in 2010 a second collection comes out: Classics II . To inframeize these unreleased albums, always in 2010 another collection was released entitled The Essential.

On 1 July 2013, four years after the latest album, Arielle Dombasle by Era, a new album in the protagonist of the French actress Arielle Dombasle, was released.

On November 3, 2017 The 7th Sword was released, anticipated on July 7 by the single 7 Seconds .
