The dates, announced during the 57th edition of the event, were those of 14, 16, 18 May 2013. [2]
The slogan of this edition was We Are One , and the chosen logo was a multicolored butterfly. [3]
The organization of the event is entrusted to Martin Österdahl [4] , former organizer of the MelodiFestivalen [5] . The event is sponsored by Schwarzkopf [6] and Telia. [7]
Choice of the location [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]
Following the victory of Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, with the song Euphoria of Loreen, the Scandinavian country made itself available to host and organize the subsequent edition of the musical event. Sweden had already hosted the Eurovision Song Contest on four occasions: in 1975, in 1985, 1992 and 2000. In the aftermath of the victory, the delegated administrator of Sveriges Television (Svt), Eva Hamilton, revealed that the possible locations Gothenburg could have been, with his Scandinavium (already home to the 1985 edition), Malmö, with his Malmö Arena, or Stockholm with his Friends Arena, located in the nearby municipality of Solna. [8]
According to the Swedish newspaper Express Svt had taken into consideration the hypothesis of hosting the two semifinals in Gothenburg and Malmö while the final would have been held in Stockholm, the capital of the country [9] , even if this hypothesis was subsequently denied by the same production. [ten]
After the retreat of Gothenburg, announced on June 12, 2012 and mainly due to the unavailability of the proposed headquarters as well as the coincidence with other events expected in the city [11] , the issuer had to choose between Stockholm and Malmö, rewarding the latter. [twelfth]
Voting system [ change | Modifica Wikitesto ]
