Football Club Municipal Danube Galați

The Football Club Municipal Danube Galați , was a Romanian football club based in the city of Galați. It is the result of a merger in 1982 among the clubs of F.C.M. Galati – Club founded in 1932 and passed through different redenomination – and the CSU Galati .

The club saw the light in 1932 as a sports club of the Romanian railway company Căile Firate Române assuming the name of Gloria cf. Galați. In the early years the club played only at the regional level. In 1936 he participated in the third division championship, the Divice C. After the immediate promotion to the divice B, in 1939 he reached the first promotion in the top flight, the difference A. Two championships played at that level, always placing himself in the low ranking positions, before the sports activities were interrupted for the Second World War.

At the resumption after the war in 1946, glory was admitted to the divice B championship, since in the last championship before the war he ranked in the penultimate place, or in the relegation area. In the following years, the club was unable to return to the levels of the thirties and played several championships in the salvation area of ​​the second series.

After two changes of name – in 1948 it became CFR Galati , in 1949 Galati locomotive – In 1951 it relegated from divice B to the lower category. In the following years he took part in regional level championships – changing the name two more times in 1957 again Gloria CFR Galati and in 1958 CSM Galati .

In the mid -sixties the club resumed the name of Gloria CFR Galati And in 1966 he centrified access to Divice C. After four years of swinging performances, the merger with the fellow citizens of the Oțelul Galați took place. The new team is called FC Galati And he participated in the divice B. as early as 1972, the Oțelul breaks the union going to merge with the Dacia Galați, a militant in the third division, taking up the original name.

In the following years, the club struggle for promotion in Divice A, which arrived in 1974. In 1976 changed its name again, becoming FCM Galati . The end of the seventies was characterized by repeated ups and downs between divice A and B, until 1980, when the club managed to hit salvation in the top flight. However, it relegated the following year.

In 1982 a new merger took place, with the CSU Galati , which led to the training of the club CSU Galati Danube . This union led to a new promotion in Divizia a in 1983. The Dunărea thus played his last season in the top flight in 1983-84, placing himself in the last place and relegating. After two years of divice B, in 1986 the club went down further, ending up in a divice C.

In 1988 the team resumed the ancient name of Gloria CFR Galati ; In 1990 he also found the promotion in Divice B. After a promotion in a diverto in 1992, the club no longer reached the glories of the past, ending up in the third series in 2000. The club, which in the meantime had changed its name again by adopting FCM Danube Galati (for a short time during the 1994-95 season it was called Constant CFR Galați ), in 2004 he found the promotion in Divice B, now Liga II, where he continues to military since that year.

CSU Galati It was a football team founded in the year 1956, part of an Polisportivo Club whose foundation dates back to 1953.

The best result of the club was the participation in the final of the Romania Cup in the 1975-1976 season. That year, while militating in divice B, he reached the final act by facing the most quoted Steaua Bucharest, which imposed himself 1-0.

The Steaua also won the championship in the same season, acquiring the right to participate in the subsequent champions Cup. The CSU thus had the opportunity to access the 1976-1977 Cup Cup, where he met the Boavista’s Portuguese. A double defeat (2-3 at home, 0-2 away) stopped immediately the European adventure.

The CSU never played in the top flight. In 1982 he merged with the FCM Galati , giving life to CSU Danube .
