Fox Feature Syndicate [first] (also known as Fox Comics It is Fox Publications ) was an American comic book publishing house active in the period known as Golden Age. He was founded by Victor S. Fox, and produced titles like Blue Beetle , Fantastic Comics It is Mystery Men Comics .

Victor S. Fox and his partner Bob Farrell founded the Fox Feature Syndicate based with Lexington Avenue n. 480 in New York City in the late 1930s. They crawled an agreement with Eisner & Iger, for the production of comic book series. The author Will Eisner, at the request of the Fox to produce a character inspired by Superman, created the superhero Wonder Man for the first newspaper published by Fox, Wonder Comics , then exurovers in May 1939, signing himself as “Willis”. Eisner then said in an interview that the DC Comics caused Fox because he believed that Wonder Man was a plagiarism of Superman, and was forced to confirm it; [2] [3] However, from the transcription of the process discovered by Ken Quattro in 2010, it is noted that Eisner claimed Fox stating that Wonder Man was his original creation. [4]

Even after he was prevented from publishing the character of Wonder Man, Fox published other series focused on characters who were inspired by others already existing such as The Bird Man (who remembered Hawkman), Jo-Jo the Congo Re (Tarzan), Junior (Archie) and many others before succumbing for the consequences of his commercial practices. [5]

After losing the cause, Victor Fox fired Eisner and Iger, and hired a group of comic book authors and Joe Simon, who had already worked for Eisner and Iger as a freelancer, became editorial curator of Fox.

Being one of the first publishing houses of the golden age of American comics, he published works by important authors still at the beginning of their career such as Lou Fine who created the character of The Flame in Wonderworld Comics ; Dick Briefer with Rex Dexter of Mars in the homonymous series; George Tuska made his debut with “Zanzibar” in Mystery Men Comics n. 1 (August 1939) and “Tom Barry” ( Wonderworld Comics n. 4); Fletcher Hanks realizzò Stardust the Super Wizard in Fantastic Comics Dal 1939 al 1940.

Jack Kirby, hired in the staff after working as a freelance for Eisner & Iger, made the series in stripes The Blue Beetle Exhorted in January 1940 with a character created by Charles Nicholas Wojtkowski in Mystery Men Comics n. 1 (August 1939).

During the 1940s, Fox produced comics of various kinds but remains known for the series of superhero and humorous. With the post -war period the popularity of the superheroes went down and Fox, like other publishing houses, focused on horror and crime series. However, following the introduction of the Comics Code Authority in the mid -fifties, Fox had to close and sold the rights of Blue Beetle to Charlton Comics.
