Francesco Cavina (Faenza, February 17, 1955) is an Italian Catholic Bishop, from 26 June 2019 Emeritus Bishop of Carpi.

He was born in Faenza, a bishop’s seat in the province of Ravenna, on February 17, 1955. He lives with his family in San Lorenzo di Lugo, in the diocese of Imola.

He performs gymnasial studies in the diocesan seminary in Imola, followed by high school and theological ones in the regional seminary of Bologna.

On May 15, 1980 he ordered presbyter, in the Cathedral of San Cassiano in Imola, by Bishop Luigi Dardani. After the ordination he is the Vicerettore of the Regional Seminary of Bologna, from 1980 to 1984.

In 1981 he obtained his license in dogmatic theology. He continued his studies in Rome in the Almo Collegio Capranica and the Pontifical Lateran University, from 1985 to 1987, obtaining the doctorate in canon law.

From 1987 to 1996 he was the assistant of young people of Catholic Action and parish collaborator at the parish of Sant’Agata in Imola; From 1990 to 1993, defender of the bond and judge at the Flaminio court of Bologna; From 1991 to 1995, Vice Chancellor Episcopal and in 1995 Episcopal Chancellor. In 1991 he became canon of the Imola cathedral. From 1993 to 2011 he held the position of judge at the Flaminio Court of Bologna.
