Miroslav Blažević (Travnik, February 10, 1935 – Zagreb, February 8, 2023 [2] ) was a Croatian footballer and football coach, of a midfielder role, nicknamed “ćiro” at home.

During his midfielder career he played at home (Dinamo Zagreb, Sarajevo and Rijeka), ending his career in Switzerland.

As a coach he led teams in Switzerland, Yugoslavia, France, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, China, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina, holding the positions of CT of national teams such as Switzerland, Croatia, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina. At the reins of Croatia he reached the quarterfinals at Euro 1996 and third place in the 1998 World Championship.

With the Club teams he distinguished himself for his presence on the bench of Dinamo Zagreb, with whom he won a Yugoslav championship (1982), a Yugoslavia Cup (1983), two Croatian championships (1993 and 2003), a Croatia cup (1994) and a Super Cup of Croatia (2002).

He began his coach as a technician in 1963, training various clubs such as Zion, Lausanne, and Switzerland in 1976. In 1979 he began to train at home the Rijeka and Dinamo Zagreb (1980-1983) and, after a return in Switzerland, returns to Yugoslavia by training the FK Priština (1985), where he gets an inspected salvation [3] , and Dinamo Zagreb (1986-1988). After four years spent in France to train Nantes (1988-1992) [4] And after a return to Dinamo Zagreb (1992-1994), Blažević is appointed CTAzia CT.

With him on the bench the Croatian national team obtains good results in the international field; He qualifies to the 1996 European Championships for the first time, arriving in the quarterfinals, where he was defeated 2-1 from Germany, and participates in the 1998 World Cup, obtaining third final place. After the failure to qualify for Euro 2000 Blažević resigned from the position and, after having also trained Iran in 2001, from 2006 to 2008 he was the coach of Nk Zagreb and, since 2008, he trained Bosnia and Herzegovina. After touching the qualification to the World Cup, lost only after the playoff with Portugal, he resigned from the assignment.
