In the 10th MLB Draft in 2005 (313 in total), he was nominated by Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and joined on August 18.

In 2009, he played at the AA -class Arkansas Travelers. Recognized by the team as the most defensive player under the umbrella [3] 。 In the same year, Angels added Boggus to 40 people to avoid leakage in the rules five draft. [4] 。

After that, he signed a major contract with Atlanta Braves on March 26.
