York River (Good Kawa, English: York River ) Is a river that can be traveled in a ship with a length of about 40 miles (64 km) flowing in the eastern part of Virginia, United States. The river width is 1 mile (1.6 km) for water sources, and 2.5 miles (4 km) near the estuary pouring on the west coast of Chosapik Bay. The basin contains 17 counties east of the northern coast of Virginia and the state of Richmond. The York River basin is the place where the initial pioneering of Virginia colonies was held, and it played an important role in the American and Civil War, which is great in American history.

The York River is West Point, Virginia, about 41 miles (64 km), about Richmond, where the Mataponi River and the Pamankee River (90 miles in length (145 km)) will be joined. The total extension is about 214 miles (340 km) when combined with the South Anna River (85 miles in length (135 km)) flowing into the Pamanky River. The York River flows southeast toward Chichapik Bay and is poured into the bay in about 5 miles east of Yorktown (8 km) on the southern shore. From the York Town to Grostar Point, George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge crosses the river.

The Virginia Peninsula was sandwiched between the York River and the James River in the south, and in October 1781 it was the final stage of the American Independence War. The British Army under the command of General Charles Cornwallis in York Town was cornered by the land of George Washington and the French fleet from the sea. As a result of the U.S. military victory in Yorktown’s siege, Cornwallis was forced to surrender and ended the battle in the eastern part. In the Civil War, the same area became a unit of the Peninsula operation in 1862.

The York River is called the Paman Key River by indigenous people in the United States, and was initially named Charles River by the 17th -century Virginia company. In the Northern coast of the river, the current Virginia’s middle peninsula, the Glostar County in the area, the Chief of the Pohatan Federal Federation ruled one of the two capitals of the Federation called Wellowokomoko.

In modern times, York Kawashu Life Park is located on the southwest of the river, northwest of Yorktown, James City County. On the southern shore, there are several large military lands, such as Camp Peary and the US Navy’s York Town Navy Weapon Base (and Chizam Branch), and in a wetland and forest, which is considered to be important for waterfowls that cross the waterfowl. There are also vast storage areas. The colonial Parkway, the United States National Park Bureau, offers a idyllic road for a car that escapes this natural landscape between Williamsberg and Yorktown.

The only automatic road across the York River is the flip -up structure George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge, USA National Route 17, which connects Glostar points from York Town. The bridge, which has recently been replaced and expanded, is charged, and only collects $ 2 per car per car. This bridge has become one of the special programs to perform Hayabusa nesting in Virginia.
