Chapsal is the daughter of Marcelle Chaumont, a seamstress for haute couture of the Madeleine Vionnet fashion salon. At the age of twenty, Chapsal married journalists Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber (JJSS) in 1945. In cooperation with her husband and Fran\u00e7oise Giroud, she founded the newspaper in May 1953 L\u2019Express . In 1960 Chapsal divorced her husband, but worked closely with him for a long time. Between 1981 and 2006 she acted as a member of the jury for the Prix Femina. She showed her literary works as an important representative of French feminism. Her documentaries and non -fiction books often emerged in collaboration with Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique Rossif. In addition, children’s books and some plays were created over the years.
