It employed Kevin Carter as a staff photographer in 1984. Ken Oosterbroek worked for the paper before being appointed its chief photographer in August 1991. João Silva was hired shortly afterwards.History[edit]The Star newspaper appeared for the first time in Johannesburg as The Eastern Star. It was founded in Grahamstown under that title on 6 January 1871 (as a resurrection of the previous Great Eastern paper), and was moved to the Witwatersrand sixteen years later by its owners, brothers Thomas and George Sheffield. In 1889, the name Eastern Star was changed to the one currently in use.[4]Supplements[edit]Business Report (Monday-Friday)[5]Tonight (Monday-Friday)[5]Workplace (Monday & Wednesday)[5]Motoring (Thursday)[5]Play (monthly)[5]Distribution areas[edit]Distribution[5]20082013Eastern CapeYFree StateYYGautengYYKwa-Zulu NatalYLimpopoYYMpumalangaYYNorth WestYYNorthern CapeYYWestern CapeYDistribution figures[edit]Circulation[6]Total circulationJan – Mar 202227 984[7]Oct – Dec 202127 417[8]Jul – Sep 202125 769[9]Apr – Jun 202127 823[10]Jan – Mar 202057 019[11]Jan – Mar 201972 010[12]Jan – Mar 201875 836[13]Jan – Mar 201784 857[14]Jan – Mar 201686 833[15]Jan – Mar 201591 735[16]Jan – Mar 2014101 711[16]Oct – Dec 2012102 244Jul – Sep 2012105 686Apr – Jun 2012117 874Jan – Mar 2012124 641Readership figures[edit]Estimated Readership[17][18]AIRJanuary – December 2012615 000July 2011 – June 2012683 000See also[edit]References[edit]External links[edit] (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4"},{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
@id":"https://wiki.edu.vn/en/#breadcrumbitem
Enzyklopädie"}},{"@type":"ListItem
@id":"https://wiki.edu.vn/en/the-star-south-africa-wikipedia/#breadcrumbitem
The Star (South Africa) – Wikipedia"}}]}]
