Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors were the defending champions. They successfully defended their title and won a record-breaking eight K League championship.[1]The regular season was scheduled to begin on 29 February and to end on 4 October,[2] but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[3] The K League 1 season officially began on 8 May.[4][5] On 24 April 2020, the Korean Professional Football Union (K League) confirmed that they would adopt a modified plan for the season, changing the regular season to 22 matches, and 5 Final Round matches per team. Sangju Sangmu and the lowest-placed team at the end of the season were relegated to the K League 2 for the 2021 season.[6]Commencing this season, an additional spot for foreign players has been added for players from member countries of the ASEAN Football Federation.[7][8] (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4Table of ContentsPromotion and relegation[edit]Participating clubs by province[edit]Stadiums[edit]Foreign players[edit]League table[edit]Positions by matchday[edit]Round 1–22[edit]Round 23–27[edit]Fixtures and results[edit]Matches 1–22[edit]Final Round Matches 23–27[edit]Season statistics[edit]Most Valuable Player of The Round[edit]Monthly Awards[edit]Season Awards[edit]K League Most Valuable Player[edit]K League Young Player[edit]K League Top Scorer[edit]K League Top Assistor[edit]K League Best XI[edit]K League Manager of the Year[edit]See also[edit]References[edit]Promotion and relegation[edit]Teams relegated to the 2020 K League 2Teams promoted from the 2019 K League 2Participating clubs by province[edit]The following twelve clubs will compete in the K League 1 during the 2020 season.[9]ClubCity / AreaManagerJoinedOwner(s)Kit SupplierSponsor(s)0 Busan IPark0 Busan Lee Ki-hyung (C)1983Hyundai Development CompanyAdidasHDC Group0 Daegu FC0 Daegu Lee Byung-keun (C)2002Government of Daegu, Citizen StockholderForwardDGB Daegu Bank, AJIN Industrial Co., Ltd.0 Gangwon FC0 Gangwon Kim Byung-soo2009Government of Gangwon, Citizen StockholderApplerindGangwon Land0 Gwangju FC0 Gwangju Park Jin-sub2010Government of Gwangju, Citizen StockholderKelmeGovernment of Gwangju0 Incheon United0 Incheon Jo Sung-hwan2004Government of Incheon, Citizen StockholderMacronShinhan Bank, Incheon International Airport0 Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors0 Jeonbuk José Morais1995Hyundai Motor CompanyHummelHyundai Motor Company0 Pohang Steelers0 Pohang Kim Gi-dong1983POSCOAstorePOSCO, Pohang City Hall0 Sangju Sangmu0 Sangju Kim Tae-wan2011Korea Armed Forces Athletic CorpsKelme0 Seongnam FC0 Seongnam Kim Nam-il1988Government of Seongnam, Citizen StockholderUmbroGovernment of Seongnam0 FC Seoul0 Seoul Park Hyuk-soon (C)1984GS GroupLe Coq SportifGS Shop, GS Caltex0 Suwon Samsung Bluewings0 Suwon Park Kun-ha1996Cheil Worldwide in SamsungPumaSamsung Electronics0 Ulsan Hyundai0 Ulsan Kim Do-hoon1984Hyundai Heavy IndustriesHummelHyundai Oil Bank, Hyundai Heavy IndustriesStadiums[edit]Busan IParkDaegu FCGangwon FCGwangju FCIncheon UnitedJeonbuk Hyundai MotorsBusan Gudeok StadiumDGB Daegu Bank ParkChuncheon Songam Leports TownGangneung StadiumGwangju World Cup StadiumGwangju Football StadiumIncheon Football StadiumJeonju World Cup StadiumCapacity: 12,349Capacity: 12,415Capacity: 20,00022,333Capacity: 40,24512,000Capacity: 20,891Capacity: 42,477Pohang SteelersSangju SangmuSeongnam FCFC SeoulSuwon SamsungBluewingsUlsan HyundaiPohang Steel YardSangju Civic StadiumTancheon StadiumSeoul World Cup StadiumSuwon World Cup StadiumUlsan Munsu Football StadiumCapacity: 17,443Capacity: 15,042Capacity: 16,146Capacity: 66,704Capacity: 44,031Capacity: 44,102Foreign players[edit]Restricting the number of foreign players strictly to five per team, including a slot for a player from the Asian Football Confederation countries and a slot for a player from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
