Her Portuguese mother met her father, a Brazilian engineer from Rio de Janeiro,[2] when she worked as a translator in Brazil. She attended a German school in Portugal.[4] Around age 15, she decided to become an actress.[4] She has cited The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) as her favorite movie growing up.[5]At age 16, Alba Baptista started her career as the main character in Sim\u00e3o Cayatte’s short film Miami.[6] For her performance, she received the Best Actress Award at the Festival Ib\u00e9rico de Cin\u00e9. She furthered her career with appearing in Portuguese series A Cria\u00e7\u00e3o and the telenovelas A Impostora and Jogo Duplo.[4] During the following years, Alba developed a strong cinema career in Portugal, as well as starring in roles on three popular Portuguese series. Her film work includes: Caminhos Magn\u00e9tykos by Edgar P\u00eara, in which she played the role of “Catarina”; and Equin\u00f3cio by Ivo Ferreira. In 2019 she appeared in the film Patrick, the directorial debut of Gon\u00e7alo Waddington, and which was in competition at San Sebasti\u00e1n International Film Festival, where it premiered.
