NHL hockey team season

The 2001–02 Washington Capitals season was the team’s 28th season of play. The team finished second in the Southeast, but ninth overall in the Eastern Conference to miss the playoffs.

Off-season[edit]

On September 27, Steve Konowalchuk and Brendan Witt were named co-captains.[1]

Regular season[edit]

The Caps tied the New Jersey Devils for fewest short-handed goals scored, with just 2.[2]
