Voters chose 10 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4While Maryland voted for the National Republican candidate, Henry Clay, over the Democratic Party candidate, Andrew Jackson, by a mere four votes, this is irrelevant because electors weren’t awarded based on the statewide vote. They were chosen in four district elections. A total of ten electoral votes were allocated, with five going to Clay and three to Jackson, while two electors failed to cast votes. In terms of raw votes cast, Clay’s four-vote margin is the smallest between two major candidates in any state in any presidential election in United States history.Table of ContentsResults[edit]Results by electoral district[edit]Results by county[edit]Counties that flipped from National Republican to Democratic[edit]Counties that flipped from Democratic to National Republican[edit]See also[edit]References[edit]Results[edit]Results by electoral district[edit]1832 United States presidential election in Maryland District 2 – Baltimore City (2 Electors)PartyCandidateVotesPercentageElectoral votesDemocraticAndrew Jackson (incumbent)5,02554.190%2National RepublicanHenry Clay4,24845.810%0Totals9,273100.0%2Results by county[edit]CountyHenry Clay (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4National RepublicanAndrew JacksonDemocraticMarginTotalVotesCast [7]#%#%#%Allegany62443.36%81556.64%19113.27%1439Anne Arundel90454.56%75345.44%1519.11%1657Baltimore (City and County)424834.88%793065.12%-3682-30.24%12178Calvert40160.21%26539.79%13620.42%666Caroline55653.98%47446.02%827.96%1030Cecil81242.49%109957.51%-287-15.02%1911Charles51556.04%40443.96%11112.08%919Dorchester95859.06%66440.94%29418.13%1622Frederick267099.48%140.52%265698.96%2684Harford89344.08%113355.92%-240-11.85%2026Kent44854.50%37445.50%749.00%896Montgomery71879.16%18920.84%52958.32%907Prince George’s64157.64%47142.36%17015.29%1122Queen Anne’s56046.51%64453.49%-84-6.98%1204St. Mary’s62170.89%25529.11%36641.78%876Somerset71960.47%47039.53%24920.94%1189Talbot62960.25%41539.75%21420.50%Washington136441.40%193158.60%-567-17.21%3295Worcester87950.66%85649.34%231.33%1735Total1916050.01%1915649.99%40.01%38316Counties that flipped from National Republican to Democratic[edit]Counties that flipped from Democratic to National Republican[edit]See also[edit]References[edit]^ Two electors failed to cast their votes to Andrew Jackson.
