Kerry and Sligo were defeated by Down, Meath and Monaghan by Kildare, Roscommon and Limerick by Cork, and Tyrone and Louth by Dublin. Cork then defeated Dublin in the first All-Ireland semi-final, before Down defeated Kildare in the second.Four knockout (single elimination format) provincial championships were played.
