She is best known for her role in the Kim Ki-duk film Pietà.[2]Jo Min-su graduated from a vocational high school, Gyungbok Girls’ Commercial High School, and first entered the entertainment business by doing a television commercial for ₩120 thousand (about US$100). She debuted in 1986 via the KBS TV Cultural Center, then appeared first on the big screen in Chung: Blue Sketch. But her public profile grew more through her television roles than movies, culminating in a Best Actress trophy in the 1989 KBS Drama Awards. Among her other notable TV series were Sandglass, Daemang (also known as Great Ambition), and Piano.[3] After her marriage in 2005, she took a break from her acting career, but returned four years later with a memorable performance in Will It Snow for Christmas?.[2][4]But 2012 would prove to be the now-veteran actress’s breakthrough year. Though she initially had reservations about doing a film by controversial auteur Kim Ki-duk, Jo became thankful to Kim for giving her the chance “to work with new material from what I was used to in the past. There aren’t too many roles that women my age can do. They all seem the same. But this role was different.”[2] Her performance in Pietà brought her rave reviews and praise at the Venice Film Festival,[5] as well as from domestic critics and audiences, notably a Best Actress trophy at the Grand Bell Awards.[6] She was also awarded the prestigious Okgwan Order of Cultural Merit.[7][8][9]Table of ContentsFilmography[edit]Film[edit]Television series[edit]Hosting[edit]Music video[edit]Awards and nominations[edit]References[edit]External links[edit]Filmography[edit]Film[edit]Television series[edit]YearTitleRoleNetwork1986TV Literature “Fire”KBS1TV Literature “Tale of a Mad Painter”Blind girlKBS1이화에 월백하고KBS2Rich ArtifactsKBS11987TV Literature “Stairway of Green”KBS1Door of DesireTan-sil, Chung Ju-yung’s wifeKBS2시냇물 흘러흘러 어디로 가나KBS1988Sun Rising Over the HillKBS2PunggaekPark Da-somKBS21989Wang Rung’s FamilyWoman from SeoulKBS2Mount JiriPartisan Soon-yiKBS1Merry Go RoundKBS1Moonlight FamilyYoung-sookKBS21990PacheonmuYeon-shilKBS21990-1998Love on a Jujube TreeMyo-soonKBS11991MBC Best Theater “A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Desert Island Blues”Baek Hye-youngMBC1992TV Literary Theater “Doll Making”Min Young-jooKBS1백번 선본 여자Jae-heeKBS2Wind Blowing in the WoodsYoo Mi-sunKBS21993Mountain WindChoi Yoon-hwaMBCLoversHye-inKBS2MarriageNa Seo-youngSBS1995SandglassSun-youngSBSAsphalt ManBae Jong-okSBS1996Until We Can LoveKBS2MBC Best Theater “Seranade for Yeo-woon”Jung-hooMBC1997MBC Best Theater “Changing Partners”Ae-riMBCLove and FarewellKang Min-jooMBC1999House Above the WavesSo-ranSBSHappy TogetherSeo Chan-jooSBS2000The Aspen TreeSBSFireworksHeo Min-kyungSBS2001PianoShin Hye-rimSBS2002My Name Is PrincessChoi Hwa-youngMBCGreat AmbitionDan-aeSBSIce FlowerShin Young-jooSBS2004ProposalHan Kyung-heeSBS2009Will It Snow for Christmas?Cha Chun-heeMBC2011My Daughter the FlowerJang Soon-aeSBS2013Goddess of MarriageSong Ji-sunSBS2020The CursedJin KyungOCNHosting[edit]Music video[edit]YearSong titleArtist1998“To Heaven”Jo Sung-mo2000“Y”Koyote2015“The Light”The ArkAwards and nominations[edit]References[edit]^ Also romanized as Cho Min-soo or Jo Min-soo.^ a b c Song, Ho-jin (22 September 2012). “Interview: Pieta star says she now has something to hold onto”.
