He attended Milton Academy prior to enrolling at Davidson College. Aoki earned four varsity letters while starting for three seasons for the Wildcats at catcher, second base, and third base. He was a prolific hitter and still ranks among career leaders in several offensive categories. Aoki hit two grand slams in 1988, one of just six Davidson players to hit two in one season.[1] He played one professional season for HCAW in the Netherlands in 1991.Coaching career[edit]Aoki began his coaching career as head coach at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Connecticut. After one season, he became an assistant at Ohio, where he stayed for two years and earned a master’s degree. He then moved to Dartmouth for four seasons before landing his first Division I head coaching job at Ivy League Columbia. In his five seasons, the Lions were 87–140, including twenty or more wins in each of Aoki’s last three seasons. Columbia had not won twenty or more games in a season since 1987.[1][2][3] On June 8, 2019, Notre Dame announced that they would not renew Aoki’s contract for the 2020 season.[4] (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});after-content-x4On July 3, 2019, Aoki was named the head baseball coach at Morehead State University.[5]Head coaching record[edit]The below table shows Aoki’s yearly records as an NCAA head baseball coach.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12]Statistics overviewSeasonTeamOverallConferenceStandingPostseasonColumbia Lions (Ivy League) (1999–2003)1999Columbia13–277–132nd (Gehrig)2000Columbia11–346–144th (Gehrig)2001Columbia20–2710–102nd (Gehrig)2002Columbia22–2510–103rd (Gehrig)2003Columbia21–279–11T-3rd (Gehrig)Columbia:87–14042–58Boston College Eagles (Atlantic Coast Conference) (2007–2010)2007Boston College24–27–112–175th (Atlantic)2008Boston College26–279–21T-5th (Atlantic)2009Boston College34–2613–153rd (Atlantic)NCAA Regional2010Boston College30–2814–164th (Atlantic)Boston College:114–108–148–69Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Big East Conference) (2011–2013)2011Notre Dame23–29–113–138th2012Notre Dame31–2714–137th2013Notre Dame34–2410–147thNotre Dame Fighting Irish (Atlantic Coast Conference) (2014–2019)2014Notre Dame22–319–217th (Atlantic)2015Notre Dame37–2317–13T-2nd (Atlantic)NCAA Regional2016Notre Dame27–2711–177th (Atlantic)2017Notre Dame26–3210–207th (Atlantic)2018Notre Dame24–3012–186th (Atlantic)2019Notre Dame24–3013–176th (Atlantic)Notre Dame:248–253–1109–146Morehead State Eagles (Ohio Valley Conference) (2020–present)2020Morehead State5–100–3Season canceled due to COVID-192021Morehead State24–2313–143rdOhio Valley Tournament2022Morehead State27–2714–103rdOhio Valley TournamentMorehead State:56–6027–24Total:505–561–2 National champion Postseason invitational champion Conference regular season champion Conference regular season and conference tournament champion Division regular season champion Division regular season and conference tournament champion Conference tournament championReferences[edit]^ a b c “Mik Aoki Profile”. und.com.
