The election was surprisingly won by the center-left Positive Slovenia party, led by Zoran Janković. However, he failed to be elected as the new Prime Minister in the National Assembly,[2] and the new government was instead formed by a right-leaning coalition of five parties, led by Janez Janša, the president of the second-placed Slovenian Democratic Party.[2][3][4] The voter turnout was 65.6%.Table of ContentsBackground[edit]Opinion polls[edit]Results[edit]Responses[edit]Analysis[edit]Aftermath[edit]References[edit]Background[edit]The National Assembly consists of 90 members, elected for a four-year term, 88 members elected by the party-list proportional representation system with D’Hondt method and 2 members elected by ethnic minorities (Italians and Hungarians) using the Borda count.[5]The election was previously scheduled to take place in 2012, four years after the 2008 election. However, on 20 September 2011, the government led by Borut Pahor fell after a vote of no confidence.[6]As stated in the Constitution, the National Assembly has to elect a new Prime Minister within 30 days and a candidate has to be proposed by either members of the Assembly or the President of the country within seven days after the fall of a government.[7] If this does not happen, the president dissolves the Assembly and calls for a snap election. The leaders of most parliamentary political parties expressed opinion that they preferred an early election instead of forming a new government.[8]As no candidates were proposed by the deadline, the President Danilo Türk announced that he would dissolve the Assembly on 21 October and that the election would take place on 4 December.[1] The question arose as to whether the President could dissolve the Assembly after the seven days, in the event that no candidate was proposed. However, since this situation is not covered in the constitution, the decision of the President to wait the full 30 days was welcomed by the political parties.[9] The dissolution of the Assembly, a first in independent Slovenia, took place on October 21, a minute after midnight.[10]Opinion polls[edit]SourceDateSDSLZJLGVSDDeSUSSLSNSiSNSTRSSMS-ZLDSZaresGzSAvionOtherDon’t KnowWon’t VoteWon’t AnswerLast election200829.3%––30.5%7.5%5.2%3.4%5.4%––5.2%9.4%––4.05%–36.9%–IFIMES[11]October 1331.2%11.2%13.7%11.9%7.5%3.6%–5.1%2.2%–5.6%2.4%–2.8%2.8%–––Delo[12]October 1419.3%19.4%6.0%4.1%5.3%3.1%3.2%3.2%3.7%–1.7%1.0%0.4%–0.2%20.5%8.9%–Finance[13]October 2121%16%18%11%6%4%3%2%2%–3%1%––3%6%5%–Ninamedia[14]October 2219.1%13.0%12.8%7.2%6.0%3.6%2.4%2.4%1.6%–1.3%1.0%––0.5%20.5%8.3%–FUDŠ[15]October 2315.5% (37)8.3% (15)6.1% (12)3.0% (7)2.3% (5)1.6% (4)1.5% (4)2.1% (4)0.2%0.5%1.6%0.2%0.1%–1.4%52.3%3.3%–Mediana[16]October 2516.5%12.5%17.2%6.1%3.7%4.3%0.9%2.0%1.7%–1.1%0.7%–0.8%4.4%15.3%8.9%4.0%Večer[17]October 2618.8%6.7%11.2%3.9%2.3%1.3%1.3%1.3%0.9%0.3%0.7%0.9%––7.2%32.3%9.4%1.4%Ninamedia[18]October 2927.7%21.6%24.9%7.3%7.7%3.0%1.8%1.1%1.8%–1.4%1.1%––0.6%–––FUDŠ[19]November 220.5%12.7%23.8%2.6%4.2%2.6%2.1%2.7%1.1%1.0%1.1%0.5%0.2%–0.6%24.1%0.3%–Episcenter[20]November 424%17%23%6%5%4%1%2%2%"},{"@context":"http://schema.org/","@type":"BreadcrumbList
@type":"ListItem
@id":"https://wiki.edu.vn/en/wiki40/#breadcrumbitem
Enzyklopädie"}},{"@type":"ListItem
@id":"https://wiki.edu.vn/en/wiki40/2011-slovenian-parliamentary-election-wikipedia/#breadcrumbitem
2011 Slovenian parliamentary election – Wikipedia"}}]}]
