Since its premiere on September 16, 2017,[1] it has aired five seasons on four different networks — ABS-CBN (from 2017 to 2020); Kapamilya Channel and A2Z (since 2020); and TV5 (since 2023).Gameplay[edit]Format[edit]Presented with a group of five “mystery singers” identified only by their occupation, a guest artist must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel (also known as SING-vestigators) over the course of three rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[2][3]Rewards[edit]At the end of each round, the eliminated mystery singer gets a consolation prize starting with ₱5,000 for the first round, ₱10,000 for the second round, and ₱15,000 for the third round. If singer is good, the guest artist wins an award (as Eyeward) and he/she will compete at Tawag ng Tanghalan. The winning singer, regardless of being good (SEE-nger) or bad (SEE-ntunado), wins ₱25,000.Rounds[edit]Each episode presents the guest artist with five people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the “stage of truth” or remain in the end to perform the final duet.Visual roundStop, Looks, and ListenThe guest artist is given some time to observe and examine each mystery singer based on their appearance. Afterward, a muted video of each mystery singer reveals only 3 seconds of their singing voice as an additional hint.[a]Each mystery singer is given two different identities — as a good singer and as a bad singer. Only one of them is their real identity.[b][c][d][e]Lip sync roundThe Voice is SyncingEach mystery singer performs a lip sync to a song. Good singers mime to a recording of their own performance, while bad singers mime to a recording by someone else.[a][b]Each mystery singer performs a lip sync from a non-lyrical piece of a song (i.e. screams, whistles, interjections, etc.).[a]The mystery singers are divided into two groups of two or three, and participate in a lip sync performance to one song each.[c][d][e]Evidence roundI Like to Prove It! Prove It!A proof of each mystery singer’s singing ability (i.e. photo, video, certificates, etc.) is shown on the screen. Good singers have own evidences, while bad singers have their evidences fabricated.[a]The host has randomly assigned clues about the mystery singer. The guest artist must choose a clue for each mystery singer.[d][e]For the fourth season:A Whole New Word — The panelist is given a statement with an assigned “keyword” to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice. Good singers have true statements, while bad singers have their statements fabricated.Bed of Boses — Similar to a muted video segment of Stop, Looks, and Listen, a video recording from a studio session by one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice reveals only 3 seconds of their singing voice as an additional hint.Message Parlor — The guest artist is presented with a video package featuring a “super fan” of one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.Song Ka Pa — The host reveals a playlist of three “mystery songs” that are appropriated to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.Tabi-tabi Po — The guest artist asks a question to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice that can answer with nonverbal communication. For the fifth season:Ano Box? — Inside a semi-concealed container, the panelist must release an evidential piece by one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice, except music-related items (i.e. ballpen, hairbrush, flashlight, etc.).Good Night Silip — The guest artist is presented with a preshow rehearsal video by one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice.Hula Bira — The panelist has to make its own premonition by one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice. Good singers have true statements, while bad singers have their statements fabricated.Lights, Camera, Reaction — The guest artist is presented with a video package including witnesses by one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice react when they hear on its own performance that he/she would appear on that show.Stop, Spluk, and Listen — The guest artist must interrogate to one of the remaining mystery singers of their choice by audio message, but pitch-shifted to obscure their actual vocals.Rehearsal roundPlay it by HearThree random panelists are wearing headphones to listen to a recording of assigned mystery singer that lasts for 15 seconds. Afterward, the panelist defends the mystery singer and convince the guest artist to choose them as the winner.[a][b][c]Notes:^ a b c d e 1 Used in season 1.^ a b c 2 Used in season 2.^ a b c 3 Used in season 3.^ a b c 4 Used in season 4.^ a b c 5 Used in season 5.Production[edit]Background and development[edit]ABS-CBN first announced the development of the series in collaboration with Endemol Shine Group on August 2017.[4][5] It is produced by ABS-CBN Entertainment; the staff team is managed by executive producers Rose Casala, Laurenti Dyogi, Marvi Gelito, Carlo Katigbak, Cory Vidanes and Luis Andrada; and director Joane Laygo.Filming[edit]Tapings for the program took place at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center in Brgy. South Triangle, Diliman, Quezon City.[6]In the third and fourth season, the program was filmed under health and safety protocols due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[7] This resulted in prematurely ending the second season, as production halted from March 2020,[8][9] and later second indefinite network shutdown and denial of franchise.[10][11]Broadcast history[edit]I Can See Your Voice debuted on September 16, 2017, as a replacement to Lethal Weapon.[1][12] In the second season having premiered on August 10, 2019,[13] it was prematurely ended on March 14, 2020.[8][9] The third season then premiered on October 24, 2020,[14][15] coinciding the inaugural broadcast of TV5’s rival show Masked Singer Pilipinas.[16][17] The fourth season has an initial premiere on January 8, 2022,[18] but it was delayed until it happened on January 15, 2022, with the airing of 1MX Manila 2021 that occupied its original premiere week.[19] For the fifth season broadcasts, Kapamilya Channel and A2Z premiered first on March 4, 2023,[20][21] followed by TV5 on March 11, 2023.[a]The show was originally aired on ABS-CBN for two seasons. For the second time in ICSYV franchise since its original South Korean counterpart simulcasting on Mnet and tvN, interim broadcasters Kapamilya Channel and A2Z did its similar manner (since the third season), followed by TV5 (since the fifth season).[a] Outside of the Philippines through international transmissions, it is also aired on TFC. For digital platforms, it is available to broadcast on YouTube via Kapamilya Online Live streaming and iWantTFC through video on demand.Special episodes and companion events[edit]As part of the series’ first anniversary (of the first season), a prelude episode (dubbed as Best Mode) aired on September 9, 2018,[23] followed by Daniel Padilla playing on entire Kalokalike alumni as mystery singers on September 15, 2018.[24][25] It also aired the first episodes featuring an entire lineup of celebrities (with TNT Boys),[26][27] pairs (with Marcelito Pomoy),[28][29] groups (with TJ Monterde [tl] and KZ Tandingan),[30] elderly (with Doris Bigornia),[31][32] and foreigners (with Ethel Booba)[33] as mystery singers.Since the fourth season, it has a companion event titled I Can Guess Your Voice, an in-game event whose watchers (acting as Home SING-vestigators) use social media to correctly guess the outcome of winning mystery singer, either it was good or bad by means of a duet with one of the guest artists.[18][19]The series employs a panel of celebrities who assist the guest artist(s) to decipher mystery singers’ evidences throughout the game. Alongside main and additional cast, guest panelists also appear since the first season. Overall, 13 different members have been assigned, with the original lineup being Wacky Kiray, Kean Cipriano, Alex Gonzaga, Andrew E., Angeline Quinto, and Bayani Agbayani.[2][34]Beside them, later members joining on that team also include KaladKaren (from second season);[35]Long Mejia, Negi, Nikko Natividad, Jona Viray (from third season);[36]MC Muah [tl], and Lassy [tl] (from fourth season).[37]Series overview[edit]Winning majority: Good singers Bad singers DrawAccolades[edit]See also[edit]^ a b Episodes for the fifth season are aired every weekends, literally on Saturday (on simulcast) and Sunday (on delayed telecast, due to PBA games).[22]^ Indicates the year of ceremonyReferences[edit]^ a b “Hilarious start as contestants butcher karaoke favorites”.
