The group consists of over a hundred members drawn from across the UK political parties. The awards were the brainchild Bob Blizzard (Waveney MP), a long-time enthusiast of the jazz genre who was concerned that there was a lack of national recognition for the work of jazz performers and venues across the UK. Blizzard was involved with organising and running the awards for 11 years. Also supporting the awards are Jazz Services, Jazz UK, Jazzwise,[1] the UK Musicians’ Union jazz section, and PPL.[2]There are nine categories:[3][4]Jazz Musician of the YearJazz Ensemble of the YearJazz Venue of the YearJazz Journalist of the YearJazz CD of the Year (released during the previous year by a band or musician)Jazz Broadcaster of the YearJazz Publication of the YearJazz Education Award (for a person who has contributed to jazz in education)Services to Jazz AwardIn 2009, a special award was presented to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the well-known London club that year.[3]Table of ContentsWinners[edit]2021[edit]2020[edit]2019[edit]2018[edit]2017[edit]2016[edit]2015[edit]2014[edit]2013[edit]2012[edit]2011[edit]2010[edit]2009[edit]2008[edit]References[edit]External links[edit]Winners[edit]2021[edit]Jazz Vocalist of the Year: Georgia MancioJazz Instrumentalist of the Year: Nubya GarciaJazz Album of the Year: Callum Au and Claire Martin “Songs and Stories” Stunt RecordsJazz Ensemble of the Year: KOKOROKOJazz Newcomer of the Year: Jas KayserJazz Venue of the Year: Peggy’s SkylightJazz Media Award: Women In Jazz MediaJazz Education Award: The Original UK Summer SchoolServices to Jazz Award: Norma WinstoneLockdown Innovation Award: The Globe – Newcastle upon TyneSpecial APPJAG Award: Digby Fairweather, Lord Colwyn2020[edit]Jazz Vocalist of the Year: Cherise Adams-BurnettJazz Instrumentalist of the Year: Sarah TandyJazz Album of the Year: ‘Finding Home’ – Kate Williams Four Plus Three meets Georgia MancioJazz Ensemble of the Year: Nikki Iles Big BandJazz Newcomer of the Year: Luca ManningJazz Venue of the Year: PizzaExpress Jazz ClubJazz Media Award: Corey Mwamba “Freeness” BBC Radio 3Jazz Education Award: Jon Eno BEMServices to Jazz Award: Blow The FuseSpecial APPJAG Award: Jazzwise2019[edit]Jazz Vocalist of the Year: Zoe GilbyJazz Instrumentalist of the Year: Josephine DaviesJazz Album of the Year: Turas, Fergus McCreadieJazz Ensemble of the Year: Ezra CollectiveJazz Venue of the Year Jazz: Watermill Jazz, DorkingJazz Newcomer of the Year: Xhosa ColeJazz Media Award: Ian MannJazz Education Award: Nikki IlesServices to Jazz Award: Cleo LaineAPPJAG Special Award: Henry Lowther2018[edit]Jazz Vocalist of the Year: Ian ShawJazz Instrumentalist of the Year: Arun GhoshJazz Album of the Year: The Late Train, Denys BaptisteJazz Ensemble of the Year: Alison Rayner QuartetJazz Venue of the Year Jazz: Jazz at the Lescar, SheffieldJazz Newcomer of the Year: Shirley TettehJazz Media Award: Lance LiddleJazz Education Award: Jean ToussaintServices to Jazz Award: Jill RodgerAPPJAG Special Award: Gary Crosby OBE2017[edit]2016[edit]2015[edit]Jazz Vocalist of the Year: Norma WinstoneJazz Instrumentalist of the Year: Laura JurdJazz Album of the Year: Swamp by PartisansJazz Ensemble of the Year: Engines OrchestraJazz Venue of the Year: St Ives Jazz ClubJazz Newcomer of the Year: Peter EdwardsJazz Media Award: London Jazz News websiteJazz Education Award: National Youth Jazz OrchestraServices to Jazz Award: Chris HodgkinsSpecial Award: Peter Ind[6]2014[edit]2013[edit]2012[edit]2011[edit]2010[edit]2009[edit]Jazz Musician of the Year: Phil RobsonJazz CD of the Year: Howeird, The Sam Crockatt QuartetJazz Ensemble of the Year: The Ryan Quigley SextetJazz Venue of the Year: Fleece Jazz (South East England)Jazz Journalist of the Year: Kevin Le GendreJazz Broadcaster of the Year: Sarah WardJazz Publication of the Year: jazzreloaded.comJazz Education Award: Richard MichaelServices to Jazz Award: Val Wilmer2008[edit]References[edit]^ Jazz breaking news: Voting Now Open For 2010 All Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Jazzwise, 20 January 2010.^ Voting now open for Sixth Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2010, PPL, UK, 18 January 2010.^ a b Parliamentary Jazz Awards Winners Are Announced, Jazzwise, 21 May 2009.^ “Parliamentary Awards : Winners …and winners on the night”, London Jazz News, 20 May 2009.^ Quinn, Peter (11 May 2016). “2016 Parliamentary Jazz Awards”.
