It was released on September 12, 1997, by Medley Records in Denmark.[2] Like the previous album, Played on Pepper (1995), it was mainly produced by the band itself. Guitar player Mikkel Lentz said the band programmed new beats during the mixing process as they wanted to experiment a bit more with this album.[2] While the band’s previous albums relied heavily on soft rock ballads, Nothing to Lose contains a rockier sound intended to suit the European market.[3]Bass guitar player Søren Madsen debuts as songwriter on the track “Magic”.[2]In Denmark, Nothing to Lose sold 25,000 copies on the day of release.[4] In May 1998, the album had sold 500,000 copies worldwide, with 70,000 copies sold in Denmark.[5]The fourth single, “I’m Gonna Be Around” was re-produced by Per Magnusson and David Kreuger for its single release. The song was “written especially for the United States” according to lead singer Jascha Richter.[6] It was later included on the compilation album MLTR (1999). It is the last studio album to feature bassist Søren Madsen, who left the band three years after.Track listing[edit]TitleWriter(s)Producer(s)1.“I’m Gonna Be Around”Jascha Richter, Oli Poulsen, Ashley MulfordOli Poulsen4:182.“Something You Should Know”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock3:393.“Animals”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:574.“Nothing to Lose”RichterMichael Learns to Rock3:565.“Magic”Søren Madsen, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:086.“Everything I Planned”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:027.“Paint My Love”RichterMichael Learns to Rock3:478.“Romantic Balcony”RichterMichael Learns to Rock5:059.“Party”RichterMichael Learns to Rock4:3110.“Breaking My Heart”RichterMichael Learns to Rock4:0311.“A Different Song”RichterMichael Learns to Rock4:1612.“Forever and a Day”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock3:18European re-release bonus trackTitleWriter(s)Producer(s)13.“I’m Gonna Be Around” (radio version)Richter, Poulsen, MulfordPer Magnusson, David Kreuger3:43Japanese editionTitleWriter(s)Producer(s)1.“I’m Gonna Be Around”Richter, Poulsen, MulfordPoulsen4:192.“Something You Should Know”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock3:393.“Animals”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:574.“Nothing to Lose”RichterMichael Learns to Rock3:555.“Magic”Søren Madsen, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:076.“Everything I Planned”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock4:027.“Forever and a Day”Richter, MulfordMichael Learns to Rock3:188.“Romantic Balcony”RichterMichael Learns to Rock5:009.“Party”RichterMichael Learns to Rock4:3110.“Every Day”Søren Madsen, Tamra RosanesMichael Learns to Rock3:2211.“A Different Song”RichterMichael Learns to Rock4:152014 remastered edition bonus tracks[7]Title13.“Paint My Love” (acoustic version)3:4914.“Breaking My Heart” (alternative version)3:5715.“Every Day” (bonus track) (Japan edt.)3:2416.“I’m Gonna Be Around” (acoustic demo)2:3517.“Forever and a Day” (demo)3:1318.“Something You Should Know” (band mix 2)3:4619.“Romantic Balcony” (from Secrets, 1988)4:34Certifications and sales[edit]References[edit]^ “noter” [notes].
