表面波 – Wikipedia

物理学でいう表面波(ひょうめんは、英:surface wave)とは、異なる媒体(通常、密度の異なる2種の液体)の界面に沿って伝達する波動である。また、屈折率の勾配に応じて伝達する電磁波も表面波という。ラジオ放送において、地上波は、地球の表面付近を伝達する表面波である。

力学の波動[編集]

地震学において、いくつかのタイプの表面波が見受けられる。力学的観点に置いて、表面波は一般にラブ波またはレイリー波として知られ、地震波は、しばしば地震また爆発の結果として、地球を通過して進行する波動である。 ラブ波には水平動(光波のように、進行方向に対して垂直の運動)があるが、レイリー波には上下動(音波のように、進行方向に平行の運動)と水平動の2つがある。地震波は地震学者が研究しており、地震計により測定される。表面波は幅広い周波数域に及び、もっとも大きい被害を及ぼす波の周期は、通常10秒以上である。 最大の地震では、表面波は何度も地球を周回することがある。

表面波は、エアリー関数で近似されるとき、より適切にはクリーピング波と呼ばれ、海上の波を説明することができる。例として、水と空気の界面の波(海面の波)、水または空気の界面におけ砂のさざ波が挙げられる。その他の例として、密度の異なる2つの水の塊の界面に沿って進むことができる内部波がある。

地上波は、地球表面またはその付近の電波伝播と言われている。これらの表面波もまた、漠然とノートン表面波ツェネック波ゾンマーフェルト波(英語ではgliding wavesとも呼ばれる)として知られている。

ラジオ放送[編集]

中波(時々”中周波数”と呼ばれる)における低い周波数、特にAM放送と、長波帯域(およびそれらより低い周波数であるその他のラジオ波)は、地上波として効果的に進む。なぜなら、それらは、その低い周波数にしたがって、 地球の形状によってより効果的に回折を受けるからである。電離層の反射も考慮に入れられている。電離層は太陽の状態にしたがってしばしば変化する一定のバンドの周波数を反射する。このように地上波の伝播を維持する界面を構成する屈折率が、地球には1つあり、大気は異なる屈折率を持つ。

空洞共振の横波は、空洞の中に閉じ込められた波動で生じた.特徴的な定在波のパターンである。この空洞が可能にする波長に相当する疎密波は、空洞の反射面からの多くの反射の後、干渉により強められる。

表面の電気伝導度は、よりよく伝播する水のようなより伝導度が大きい表面とともに、地上波の伝播に影響する[1]。表面の伝導度が大きくなると、散逸が小さくなる[2]。屈折率は空間と時間の変化を受ける。地殻が完全な導体ではないので、地上波は、地球表面をたどると弱まる。

ほとんどの低周波の”長波”ラジオ長距離通信(30 kHzと300 kHzの間)は、地上波の電波となる。中波の伝播(周波数は300 kHzから3000 kHz)は、主に、地球の曲率にしたがって進む(地上波の)特徴がある。低周波では、 地上での損失は低く、低周波ではもっと低下した。VLFおよびLF周波数は、たいてい軍事通信、とりわけ船舶と潜水艦に用いられる。

表面波は超地平線レーダーに用いられていた。ラジオの発明において、表面波がもっぱら用いられた。初期の商用および専門的なラジオサービスはもっぱら、低周波で、地上を伝播する長波に頼っていた。これらのサービスが利用している界面で妨害があると、未熟で経験的な伝送はより高い周波数(HF)に限定され、それらの地上波の範囲が限られていたために、有用でないと感じられた。ほかに中波と短波の周波数で可能な伝播モデルの発見において、商用目的および軍事的目的におけるHFの利点は明らかとなった。この未熟な経験は認可されたこの範囲の周波数のみに限られた。

夜、中波と短波は電離層で反射する。これは、上空波として知られる。地球の昼の部分の電離層に向かって太陽風が吹き、夜の部分へ吹き抜けると、この天然のラジオの”鏡”は、昼間により表面に近づく。このことは、高周波が昼間に非常に効果的に伝播するを妨げる。 夜間には、 中波と短波の伝達においては、上空波よりよく進む。地上波は電離層や対流圏の電磁波を含まない

マイクロ波場理論[編集]

マイクロ波場理論では、 多くの空洞の屈折率は、”表面波の伝播”を維持する界面を構成する。表面波は、伝送線の一部として研究されていて、いくつかは単線伝送線と考えられていると見られる。
