April 1926 im Nordosten Englands geboren und verbrachte einen Gro\u00dfteil seiner Karriere in den Northern Carbon Research Laboratories der University of Newcastle upon Tyne.[1]  Seine Forschung untersuchte die Struktur und die adsorptiven Eigenschaften von Kohlenstoffen.
