The graduation system of the Aikido Federation Germany is in Kyū-Grade (Japanese Inhabitant ) and Dan-Grade (Japanese Yudansha ) divided.
The first graduation and thus the entry into the graduation system is the 5th Kyu. The individual Kyu degrees are not marked by colored belts. From the 2nd Kyu, however, the Hakama (traditional Japanese pants skirt) can be worn with a white belt.

The first Dan then entitles you to wear a black belt together with the Hakama.

The Kyu exams are removed by the respective teacher as part of his own dojo. The prerequisite for this is a corresponding examination license. Dan exams from 1st to the 4th Dan take place nationwide in front of a three-member exam jury as part of an examination course.

The examination authorization for Kyu or Dan exams is regulated by the examiner license order. The examination regulations of the Aikido Federation are the basis for both the Kyu and the Dan exams.

All Dan Graduations acquired within the Aikido Federation are automatically recognized by the Aikikai Tokyo.
